Bessie Grey

MARIANO LAKE — Services are pending for Bessie C. Grey, 92, will be 10 a.m., March 9, at Mariano Lake Bible Church. Jones Dehiya will officiate. Burial will be in private land. Visitation will be at Hosta Butte.

Grey died March 4, 2009, in Gallup. She was born Oct. 15, 1917, in Mariano Lake, into the Towering House People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.

Grey was a rug weaver and rancher.

Survivors include her sons, Ellison Grey of Pinedale, Sam Grey of Shiprock, Tommy Grey of Phoenix, Leo Grey of Gallup, Raymond Grey of San Antonio; daughters, Virginia Snyder of Mariano Lake, Nellie Billie of Fort Wingate, Ella Garlits of Peatree, Ga., Arlene Grey of Gallup; brothers, Sam Yazzie Charley of Mariano Lake, Jimmy Charley of Mariano Lake; sister, Annie Saunder of Mariano Lake; 36 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Grey was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Grey; sons, Herbert Grey, Lee, Ray, Ben; daughter, Betty.

Pallbearers will be Ellison Grey, Leo Grey, Tommy Grey, Raymond Grey, Edward Christian, Merle Billie.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Hosta Butte, Mariano Lake, following services.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Richard Hayes

MARIANO LAKE — Funeral services for Richard Bob Hayes, 59, will be 10 a.m., March 9, at Cope Memorial Chapel, Gallup. The Rev. Harry D. Largo will officiate. Burial will be in Rehoboth Cemetery, Rehoboth.

Hayes died March 4, 2009, in Mariano Lake. He was born June 12, 1949, in Crownpoint, into the Water Edge People Clan for the Mud People Clan.

Hayes graduated from Thoreau High School. He received his architectural drafting certification from Denver, Colo. He worked with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Pat Chee Miller Construction in Gallup. Hayes enjoyed reading, keeping up with current events, watching sports like, basketball and football, and he enjoyed socializing with friends and relatives.

Survivors include his son, Morgan B. Hayes of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brothers, Robert Hayes of Mariano Lake, Ross Hayes of Tucson; sisters, Rebecca Largo of Littlewater, Nora Hayes of Mariano Lake.

Hayes was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Tony Hayes; sisters, Rose M. Chavez, Rosita McCreary; grandparents, Elsie and Ned Morgan.

Pallbearers will be Morgan B. Hayes, Aaron Rico, Ross Anderson, Dewayne Thomas, Adrian Curley, Jerome Walthall.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Mariano Lake Chapter, following services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

John Rodriguez

FORT DEFIANCE — Funeral services for John R. Rodriguez, 60, will be 1 p.m., Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church, St. Michaels. Bishop Willy will officiate. Burial will be in Fort Defiance.

Rodriguez died March 3, 2009, in Gallup. He was born June 30, 1948, in San Diego, Calif.
Rodriguez worked at the Gallup Flea Market selling bikes and tools for the past 14 years. He enjoyed being around animals.

Survivors include his brother, Paul Rodriguez; sisters, Rosie Rodriguez of Chico, Calif., Barbara Espinza of Mexicali, Mexico.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Showie, Leo Showie Jr., Alton Showie, Joe Tate, Norman Catron, Erickson Begay.
