Emerson Arviso
MULHOLLAND WELL, N.M. Funeral services for Emerson Lee
Arviso, 64, will be 12 p.m., Feb. 21, at Saint Paul Catholic Church,
Crownpoint. The Rev. Finnigan will officiate. Burial will be in
Crownpoint.
Arviso died Feb. 18, 2009, in Farmington. He was born Nov. 1,
1944, in Mulholland Well, into the Red Bottom People Clan for
the Water Flows Together People Clan.
Arviso attended Crownpoint BIA School in Fort Wingate, Gallup
High School, Valley High School in Albuquerque, Bacone College
in Muskogee, Okla., WNMU in Silver City, NAU in Flagstaff.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Curley Arviso of Mulholland
Well; sons, Anthony Arviso of Gallup, Lionel Arviso of Albuquerque;
daughters, Jacqueline Arviso of Belen, Dorothy J. Graham of Los
Lunas; brothers, Robert J. Arivso Sr. of Crownpoint, Ernest Arviso,
Eugene Arviso, Jerry Paul Arviso, Girard Arviso, Edison Arviso,
all of Bloomfield; sisters, Cecelia A. Willie, Lauretta Arviso,
Loucinda Arviso, all of Crownpoint, Janice A. Martinez of Haystack,
Irene Arviso of Phyllis A. Yazzie, Freida Arviso of Bloodfield.
Arviso was preceded in death by his parents, Jack W. and Velma
Gonzales Arviso; grandparents, Gerito J. and Bah Jeff Gonzales,
Wellito and Glen-Bah Curley Arviso; siblings, Etheline A. Martinez,
Jimmie L. Arviso, Kenneth J. Arviso.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Arviso, Lionel Arviso, Lionel Martinez,
Leland Martinez, Benedict Willie, Daulucas Jose.
The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Pauls
Parish, 12 p.m., Feb. 21.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Richard Felts
DALHART, Texas Memorial services for Richard Dick
Edwin Felts were Tuesday, Feb. 17, at Gallup Church of Christ,
Gallup.
Felts was born in Dalhart, Texas.
Felts graduated from Farwell High School, Farwell, Texas. He
attended Abilene Christian College, and Eastern New Mexico University,
Portales, where he received his Bachelor and Master degree in
Music Education. He taught band for more than 40 years throughout
Texas and New Mexico. Felts taught numerous schools including
Gallup and Tohatchi. He retired from Texas in 2000 and from New
Mexico in 2001. Felts went back to teaching in 2003, and completely
retired in 2008.
Survivors include his daughter, Tracy Gray; mother, Benna Tarter;
brother, Tex Felts; sister, Kayla Skelton.
Felts was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Felts; wife,
Dolores Richardson.
Rev. John Lewis Sr.
COYOTE CANYON Funeral services for the Rev. John Nelson
Lewis Sr., 73, will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 21, at Victory
In Christ Ministry (Tent), Crownpoint. Interment will be at family
cemetery, Crownpoint.
Lewis died Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, in Crownpoint. He was born
May 2, 1935, in Coyote Canyon.
Survivors include his sons, Anslem Lewis of Whiteriver, Ariz.,
Ambrose Lewis, Anthony Lewis, Sr., John Lewis, Jr., all of Crownpoint,
Johnathan Lewis, Alexander Lewis, both of Becenti; daughters,
Evelyn Mariano, Annette Lewis, both of Becenti; sisters, Genevieve
Lewis, Grace Lewis Sam, both of Coyote Canyon, Geneva Lewis Gruber
of Crownpoint.
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Nellie
(Nahesbah) Lewis; brothers, Tom Lewis, Earl Nelson Lewis, Thomas
Nelson Lewis; sister, Gloria Lewis Gruber; one great-grandson.
Pallbearers will be John Lewis, Jr., Anthony Lewis, Sr., Amos
Brown, Anslem Lewis, Kevin Lewis and Tom Kee Joe, Jr.
Desert View Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Rebecca Moore
GALLUP Services are pending for Rebecca Ann Moore, 32.
Moore died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, in Gallup. She was born
July 14, 1976, in Gallup, into the Red Running Into the Water
People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Samuel OKee
LUPTON Funeral services for Samuel Lee OKee, 62,
will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 21, at St. Anselm Church, Houck.
The Rev. Cormac will officiate. Burial will be in family plot,
Lupton. Visitation will be 9 a.m., Feb. 21, in Houck.
OKee died Feb. 16, 2009, in Lupton. He was born Nov. 7,
1947, in Fort Defiance, into the Black Streak People Clan for
the Black Sheep People Clan.
OKee attended and graduated from Snowflake High School.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970. He worked in Heber,
Ariz. and Montana as a ranch hand and in forestry off and on.
OKee enjoyed working with livestock. His hobbies included
reading, writing poems, cutting wood for friends and family, and
helping anyone in need.
Survivors include his daughter, Trini Thompson of Greasewood;
mother, Alice Belone of Tseyatoh; brothers, Dan OKee of
Querino, Benny OKee of Spencer Valley, Dennis OKee
of Mentmore, Richard N. OKee Jr., Allen OKee, both
of Lupton.
OKee was preceded in death by his father, Richard OKee
Sr.; brother, Ben OKee.
Pallbearers will be Richard OKee Jr., Allen OKee,
Dennis OKee, William OKee, Danny OKee Jr., Christopher
Tsosie.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Lupton Chapter,
following service.
