GALLUP — Jamie Rios, 34, is being held on $50,000 cash-only bond at Gallup McKinley Adult Detention Center after he was arrested Feb. 7 for allegedly molesting a 5-year-old girl.

According to the arrest warrant, the girl disclosed privately to her cousin that Rios had touched her inappropriately, but that he had said God would punish her if she told anyone. Her cousin called police.

Gallup Police detectives brought the girl to the hospital for a medical evaluation, after which she was taken into state custody, citing “concerns” by the Child Protective Services.

Following a “safehouse” interview with the girl, police learned of at least one other alleged incident of molestation, and that Rios had allegedly shown the girl a pornographic video.

Police arrested Rios Feb. 7 on three counts of criminal sexual penetration of a child under the age of 13, a first-degree felony.
