GALLUP — Yolanda Chee, 26, of Leupp, Ariz., remains in stable condition at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque after she hanged herself in a bathroom at NCI Sunday, according to a family member at the hospital.

Employees of the Na’nizhozhi Center, Inc. drug and alcohol detoxification facility at 2205 E. Boyd Ave. found Chee hanging from a red shoestring inside a women’s bathroom around 7:15 p.m. Sunday, according to Gallup Police Detective Lt. Rick White.

White said police do not suspect foul play.

NCI staff cut the string upon finding the 26-year-old Native American woman and transported her to a local hospital. She was later flown to Albuquerque.
