Blood drive hopes to boost supply
By Gaye Brown de Alvarez
Staff writer

GALLUP — United Blood Services in sponsoring a blood drive at the RMCH third floor solarium Thursday, Feb. 12 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday, Feb. 13 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

“We need the blood so badly, as soon as you give it to us, it’s got a name on it,” said Bobbie Orr of the RMCH Auxiliary and chairwoman of the local blood drive. The need for blood is so bad, Orr said, that you make points every time you give blood. Now a donor can go online and spend those points.

In addition, Gallup residents Gloria Lopez and Dave Torrez are inviting all the softball players in the area to participate in the local blood drive. “You may save the life of a child, a relative or a stranger in need,” Lopez said.
