Council OKs $7 million in credit for NAPI Copyright © 2009 WINDOW ROCK The Navajo Nation Council wrapped up its winter session Thursday, approving a $7 million line of credit to Navajo Agricultural Products Industry for collateralization of financing to replace center pivots and other infrastructure in NAPI Block 2. The vote was 61-1. Council also referred the Desert Rock rights of way issue back to Resources Committee, 64-2, with a directive from Leonard Tsosie to try to work toward a consensus on some amendments. The matter will come back to Council in three weeks during a special session. The Navajo Tourism Fund, which would take tax money collected from Navajo tribal parks under management of Parks and Recreation and use it for park improvements, was passed 37-29. Frank Seanez was appointed chief legislative counsel by a unanimous vote of 63-0. A resolution to approve the ToNanees Dizi local government tax code was tabled for two months, by a vote of 42-32, with a work session to be held in the meantime. Sanostee Chapter received approval to change its name to Tse Alnaoztii Chapter by a vote of 71-0. |
