Deaths
Davidson Benally
VANDERWAGEN Graveside services for Davidson Benally, 52,
will be 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 30, at Rehoboth Reformed Christian
Church. The Rev. George Logan will officiate. Burial will be in
Pinetree Mission, Vanderwagen. Visitation will be Rehoboth Reformed
Christian Church.
Benally was born into the Under his Cover People Clan for the
Salt Water People Clan.
Benally attended St. Boneventure Elementary, Thoreau, Wingate
Elementary, Wingate High School, Utah Tech College and Texas State
Tech. He was employed at BNSF Railway for 20 years. He enjoyed
listening to Country music, and enjoyed being with family, teaching
kids, and being outdoors. Benally was an excellent mechanic and
was a devoted and determined father.
Survivors include his wife, June Benally; son, Dewight J. Benally;
daughters, Tracy Benally, Trista Benally, Twyla Benally; mother,
Hasbah Benally; brothers, Bob Benally, Teddy Benally, Raymond
Benally; sisters, Eva Sam, Bessie Wauneka, Annie Bahe, Laura Garnenez,
Rose Tsosie; one grandchild.
Benally was preceded in death by his father, Harry Benally; brother,
Ray Benally.
Pallbearers will be Clint E. Arthur, Gerald Chee, Lome S. Chee,
Isaac Hosteen, Owolyne Benally, Alonzo Benally, Vernon Chee Jr.,
Jaron Monte.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Rehoboth Fellowship
Hall, 4 p.m.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Annie Deal
NASCHITTI Funeral services for Annie Deal, 83, will be
10 a.m., Jan. 30, at St. Marys Catholic Church, Tohatchi.
The Rev. John M. Helstatt, OFM, will officiate. Burial will be
in Naschitti Community Cemetery. A rosary will be recited 7 p.m.,
tonight, Jan. 29, at St. Anthonys Catholic Church, Naschitti.
Deal died Jan. 25, 2009, in Gallup. She was born Oct. 15, 1925,
in Naschitti, into the Salt Water People Clan for the Bitter Water
People Clan.
Survivors include her six sons; five daughters; two sisters;
32 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Naschitti Chapter,
following services.
Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Irene Smith
TOHLAKAI Funeral services for Irene Smith, 98, will be
10 a.m., Jan. 30, at Bethlehem Christian Reformed, Tohalkai. Bobby
Boyd will officiate. Burial will be in family plot, Tohlakai.
Visitation will be 3-4:30 p.m., today, Jan. 29, at Rollie Mortuary.
Smith died Jan. 27, 2009, in Gallup. She was born Dec. 10, 1910,
in Sundance, into the Red Running Into the Water People Clan for
the Under His Cover People Clan.
Irene enjoyed ranching, weaving, and attending church.
Survivors include her eight grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren;
five great-great-grandchildren.
Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Smith; sons,
RIchard Smith Sr., Jerry Smith.
Pallbearers will be Portor Rio Smith, Richard Smith Jr., Everett
Miller, Eric Willatto, Richard Tsosie.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Twin Lakes Chapter
House, following services.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Larry Watchman
CROWNPOINT Services are pending for Larry Watchman, 58.
Watchman died Jan. 27, 2009, in Albuquerque. He was born Oct.
8, 1950, in Shiprock.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
