John Foster
SHEEPSPRINGS Funeral services for John Y. Foster, 80,
were 10 a.m. today, Jan. 23, at Sheepsprings Pentecostal Church,
Sheepsprings. Interment followed at the Sheepsprings Community
Cemetery.
Foster died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, in Farmington. He was born
June 7, 1928, in Toadlena.
Desert View Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Earl Nez
SANDERS Graveside services for Earl Nez, 70, will be 10
a.m., Saturday, Jan. 24, at Nahata Dziil Cemetery, Sanders. Teddy
Nez will officiate. Burial will be in Nahata Dziil Cemetery, Sanders.
Nez died Jan., 20, 2009, in Phoenix. He was born May 7, 1938,
in Howell Mesa, Ariz., into the Rock Gap People Clan for the Mexican
People Clan.
Nez began school at Tuba City Boarding School and Fort Wingate
School. The he began work as a carpenter doing construction work
and masonary work. He received a Gold Hammer Award in carpentry
in 2002. Nez always had the love of horses and was the member
of the American Quarter Horse Association AQHA.
Nez worked many years at Navajo Housing Authority.
Survivors include his sons, Ervin Nez of Winslow, Ernie Nez of
Inscription House, Luther Nez of Phoenix; daughters, Katherine
Nez of Tuba City, Lavina Ann Nez Gonzales of Winslow; brothers,
Teddy Nez, Fred Nez, Leroy Nez, Wayne Waltes, Gary Walters; sisters,
Marie Nez Yazzie, Jannie Nez Begay; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Nez was preceded in death by his his parents, Eli Nez Sr., Nelich
Begay; brothers, Harry Nez, Eli Nez Jr., John Nez, Billy Nez.
Pallbearers will be Ervin Nez, Ernie Nez, Luther Nez, Chappo
Gonzales, Shonevis Mike, Davison Mike.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Nahata Dziil
Chapter House, following services.

Alveino Woody
JEDITTO Graveside services for Alveino Donovan Woody,
17, will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 24, at Jeditto Community
Cemetery. Burial will be in Jeditto Community Cemetery.
Woody died Jan. 20, 2009, in Durango. He was born June 28, 1991,
in Fort Defiance, into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Edge
Water People Clan.
Woody was attending Durango High School, 12th grade. He was an
honor roll student, maintained a good grade average. He liked
still life sketching. He was an artist. Woody liked being on the
computer, skateboarding, writing poems, and enjoyed listening
to oldies and classical music. He was a friendly person.
Survivors include his parents, Emmanuel Samuel of Albuquerque,
Frieda Mae Woody of Jeditto; brothers, Christopher Allen Woody
of Colorado Springs, Michael Jake Woody of Durango; sisters, Valvadia
Woody, Shanay Ray Nelson, Ashley Leigh Rey, all of Durango.
Woody was preceded in death by his grandparents, Allen Woody
Sr., Inez Woody.
Pallbearers will be Michael Woody, Christopher Woody, Emmanuel
Samuel, Derrick Jeror.
Elmer Yazzie
BLUE GAP Services for Elmer Yazzie, 52, will be 10 a.m,
Monday, Jan 26, at the Potter House, Chinle. The Rev. Artie Aragon
will officiate. Burial will be at Chinle Community Cemetery.
Yazzie died Jan 22, 2009, in Tuba City. He was born Oct 3, 1956,
in Blue Gap, into the Mexican People Clan for the Tangle People
Clan.
Yazzie was employed with Santa Fe railroad and various constructions
in Phoenix. He liked watching Denver Broncos football, listening
to jokes and being around family. In his earlier years he enjoyed
riding horses and taking care of the livestock.
Survivors include his son, LaMar Yazzie of Burnt Corn; brothers,
LeRoy Yazzie of Phoenix, Sam Begay of Blue Gap; sisters, Evelyn
Yazzie of Blue Gap, Clara Yazzie of Albuquerque, Carole Yazzie
of Colorado Springs, Mary Charlie of Cottonwood; two grandchildren.
Yazzie was preceded in death by his parents, Clark and Mary D.
Yazzie; sisters, Mary R. James, Helen Tsosie; brothers, Gilmore
Yazzie, Jimmie Begay.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the late Clark
Yazzie's residence at Smoke Signal Junction.
Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.
Jimmie Yazzie Sr.
GRANTS Services for Jimmie Glen Yazzie Sr., 57, will be
10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 24, at Haystack Gospel Lighthouse Pentecostal
Church, Haystack. Burial will be in Grants Memorial Park. The
Rev. Edward King and James Skeet will officiate.
Yazzie died Jan. 20, 2009, in Albuquerque. He was born Aug. 10,
1951, in Grants.
Survivors include his children, Pamela Yazzie of Grants, Anceta
Emerson of Phoenix, Darrell Yazzie of Acoma, Jimmie Yazzie Jr.,
of Mariano Lake; sisters, Jennie Garcia of Haystack, Angie Yazzie
of Prewitt, Margie Garcia of Haystack, Evangie Yazzie of Haystack,
Angeline Yazzie of Haystack, Dolores Delgarito of Prewitt; brothers,
Phillip Yazzie of Haystack, Edward Yazzie of Haystack; nine grandchildren.
Yazzie was preceded in death by his wife, Etta Yazzie; parents,
Jimmy Yazzie, Mary Martinez Yazzie.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Yazzie, Jimmie Yazzie Jr., D.J. Yazzie,
Marvin Lamone, Brandon Yazzie.

OTIS, N.M. Funeral services for the Rev. John Peter Yazzie,
94, will be 1 p.m at Brethren-In-Christ Community Center, Otis.
Interment will follow Monday, Jan. 26, in Pinon. Viewing will
be 12-3 p.m., today, Friday, Jan. 23, at Desert View Funeral Home,
Shiprock.
Rev. Yazzie died Monday, January 19, 2009, in Farmington. He was
born Oct.15, 1914, in Pinon.
Rev. Yazzie lived in at Brethren-In-Christ Mission for 62 years
and was a pastor and talk to his family and friends about the
word of God, He loved us all and he will be well missed.
He is preceded in death by his brothers Chilie
Yazzie, Burt Yazzie, William, Cody, Shorthair Begay, and two nieces
Julia B. Yazzie and Alice Yazzie of Pinon, AZ.
