Orlando Gorman

ROUGH ROCK — Services for Orlando Gorman, 25, will be 10 a.m., at Rough Rock Friends Church. The Rev. Amos Redhair will officiate. Burial will be in Rough Rock family land. Visitation was 10 a.m., at Rough Rock.

Gorman was born Feb. 15, 1983, in Gallup, into the One Who Walks Around You People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Gorman attended Rough Rock High School and graduated in 2002. He worked at Conoco in Many Farms, and SCA Company in Bellmont. He was an artist in free style drawing and a music artist.

Survivors include his wife, Artincia Sells Gorman; sons, Arturo Sam-Iverson Gorman, Etan Asher Gorman; parents, Ricky and Sally Gorman; brother, Anderson Gorman.

Gorman was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary and Carl Bahe.

Pallbearers will be Anderson Gorman, Augustine Sell Jr, Arlyssia M. Sells, Shelton Yazzie, Lester Benally, Jason Sandoval.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Rough Rock Chapter House, following services.

Delores Halona

TOHATCHI — Memorial services for Delores June Halona, 53, will be 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 12, at United Pentecostal Church, Tohatchi. The Rev. Jerry Eastridge will officiate.

Halona died Jan. 6, 2009, in Tohatchi. She was born June 9, 1955, in Rehoboth, into the Hopi-Tewa People Clan for the Tangle People Clan.

Halona attended Tohatchi Boarding School and the LDS Placement Program. She worked most of her life as a cook. She enjoyed cooking, being with family and grandchildren, knitting, doing puzzles, playing solitaire, and casino games on the computer.

Survivors include her son, Cordell Halona of Fruitland; daughters, Danielle Conley of Phoenix, Bernadette Halona of Tohatchi; brothers, Lawrence Holona of Gallup, Michael P. Halona Sr. of Tohatchi; sisters, Gertrude Halona of Gallup, Patricia Holona of Albuquerque, Jeanette Ranger of Phoenix.

Halona was preceded in death by her parents, Lionel and Alice Gala Halona; sisters, Lorraine Halona-Legah, Carolyn J. Halona; brother, Leroy J. Halona.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Caroline Jones

TSEYATOH — Funeral services for Caroline Lee Jones, 46, will be 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 12, at Rollie Mortuary, Gallup. The Rev. Ted Farris will officiate. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery.

Jones died Jan. 6, 2009, in Gallup. She was born March 15, 1962, in Gallup, into the Black Streaked Wood People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Jones attended school in McKinley County. She worked at various restaurants and was self employed as a silversmith. She liked to listen to the oldies, her favorite singer was Elvis Presley.

Jones liked to socialize and joke with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Oscar James Jones of Buffalo Springs; sons, Christopher Richards, Brian Richards, Steven Sims, Wyatt Jones, Jarrett Jones, all of Tse-Ya-Toh; daughters, Vita Richards of Gallup, Dallas Jones of Tse-ya-toh; mother, Faye Tom Lee of Tse-ya-toh; brothers, George Lee of Tse-ya-toh, Raymond Lee of Gallup, Bobby Lee of Tse-ya-toh, Martinez Lee of Casamero Lake; sisters, Marjorie Smith of Tse-ya-toh, Pauline Lee of Tse-ya-toh, Brenda Yazzie of Yahtahey; seven grandchildren.

Jones was preceded in death by her father, Paul Lee; brothers, Sammy Lee, Julian Jim Lee, Slady Jim Lee; sister, Corrina Lee Dennison.
Pallbearers will be Brian Richards, Steven Sims, Oscar Jones, Erick Cadman, Todd Smith, James Duboise Jr.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Tse-ya-toh Multi Purpose Building, following services.

Travis Laughlin

ALBUQUERQUE — Services for Travis Edwin Laughlin, 40, will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church Stake Center, Gallup. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Gallup. Visitation will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, at Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church.

Laughlin died Jan. 6, 2009, in Albuquerque. He was born Jan. 6, 1969, in Gallup, into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Coyote Pass People Clan.

Laughlin attended and graduated from Tohatchi High School in 1988, and UNM-Gallup. He was self-employed as a silversmith, salesman. His hobbies included camping, fishing, outdoor recreational activities, watching Denver Broncos football.

Survivors include his wife, Tonya Ann Secatero-Laughlin of Albuquerque; sons, Sheldon of Albuquerque, Travis Jr. of Standing Rock, Jarvis and Cody, both of Gallup; daughters, Travessa and Terrilynn, both of Standing Rock; father, Tommy Laughlin of Crystal, mother Verna Spencer, stepfather, Johnny Spencer; sisters, Thomasita and Candance, both of Coyote Canyon.

Laughlin was preceded in death by his brother, Adrian Laughlin; grandparents, Sam and Florence Morgan, Sam and Francis Laughlin.

Pallbearers will be Sheldon Laughlin, Jarvis Laughlin, Elvis Morgan, Fermin Rigs, Adrian Jason Rios, Edwin Becenti.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Coyote Canyon Chapter, following services.

A donation meeting will be 5 p.m., Jan. 10, at Coyote Canyon Chapter.

Jerome Martinez

WHITE MESA — Funeral services for Jerome Ryan Martinez, 24, were 11 a.m., today, Jan. 10, at Valley Ridge Mortuary Chapel, Tuba City. Burial was in family plot, White Mesa.

Martinez died Jan.5, 2009, in Red Lake. He was born May 31, 1984, in Frankfurt, Germany.

Survivors include his parents, Juanita Chee, Willard Martinez; brothers, Nathan Martinez, Joshua Martinez; sisters, Crystal Martinez, Raquel Leigh Martinez; grandparents, Clark and Mary Chee of White Mesa, Ann B. Martinez of New Mexico.

Martinez was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Martinez.

Pallbearers will be Efrum Chee, Randy Chee, Vern Chee, Joshua Martinez, Nathan Martinez, Aurelio Tsingine.

Raymond Murphy

HOUCK — Funeral services for Raymond Murphy, 68, will be 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 12, at St. Anselm Catholic Church, Houck. The Rev. Berard Doeger, O.F.M. will officiate. Burial will be in Houck Community Cemetery.

Visitation will be 9 a.m., one hour prior to services.

Murphy died Jan. 7, 2009, in Sanders. He was born Dec. 30, 1940, in Fort Defiance, into the Near the Water People Clan for the Charcoal Streaked Division of the Red Running into the Water People Clan.

Murphy attended Chilacho Indian School in Oklahoma. He worked as a rancher.

Survivors include his son, Roy Silago of Crownpoint; daughter, Virgie Murphy of Phoenix; brother, Pascal Murphy of Sanders; sisters, Katherine Sleuth of Tohatchi, Evelyn Begay of Ganado.

Murphy was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Murphy; father, Calvin Murphy.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Houck Chapter House, following services.

George Parker

GRANTS — Services for George Parker, 87, will be 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 12, at Compassion Mortuary. Burial will be 4 p.m., Monday, at Dove Creek Community Cemetery, Dove Creek, Colo. The Rev. Garland Moore will officiate.

Parker died Jan. 7, 2009, in Grants. He was born June 30, 1921, in Rexford, Kan.

Parker was born in a covered wagon as his family moved from Missouri to Dove Creek. He was 3 months old by the time they reached Dove Creek. He moved to Grants in 1958, where he hauled Uranium for Anderson Development Co. Parker went on to haul heavy equipment for Farris Mines where he retired in 1987. He then went on to building and repairing bicycles, and enjoyed yard sales and flea markets. He loved his family.

Survivors include his children, Dixie James of Milan, Pete Parker of New York State, Donna Baldwin of California, Geneva Carrier of California; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.
Parker was preceded in death by his parents, John Parker, Hattie Mae Parker; wife, Freda Parker; five brothers; one grandson.

Pallbearers will be Kevin James, Steve Baca, Kyle James, Brent James, Ron Armstrong, Billy Parker.

VANDERWAGEN — Services are pending for Desbah Samuel, 91.

Samuel died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, in Gallup. She was born June 20, 1917, in Ramah.
