Lou Bright
GRANTS Funeral services for Lou H. Bright, 85, will be
1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 8, at Compassion Mortuary. Burial will
be in Grants Memorial Park.
Bright died Jan. 4, 2009, in Grants. She was born June 7, 1923,
in Corn, Ok.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary James of Milan; brothers,
Robert Harder of Everson, Wash., John Harder of Ferndale, Wash.,
David Harder of Sacramento, Calif.; sister, Bettie Aitkins of
Kent, Wash.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Bright was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Bright; parents,
John C. Harder, Jacqueline Alexander, Robin James,, Robert James.

IYANBITO Services are pending for Emma L. Carviso, 64.
Carviso died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, in Albuquerque. She was born
March 2, 1944, in Rehoboth, into the Towering House People Clan
for the Meadow People Clan.

Esther Chee
TWIN LAKES Funeral services for Esther Mae Chee, 49, will
be 1 p.m. Jan. 7, at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Gardner
will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Gallup.
Visitation will be 2-4:30 p.m., today,Jan. 6, at Rollie Mortuary.
Chee died Dec. 29, 2008, in Albuquerque. She was born Sept. 9,
1959, in Gallup, into the Ute People Clan for the Edge Water People
Clan.
Chee was preceded in death by his grandmother, Annie Johnson;
father, Paul Willie; brother, Jasper Willie; mother, Patsy Dehiya;
grandparents, Harrison and Mary H. Yazzie.
Pallbearers will be Marvin Johnson, Martin Johnson, Marcus Smith,
Andrew Dehiya, Bobby Sandoval, Harvey Sandoval.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Gallup Community
Center, across from Gallup Pantry.

Donald Cochrane
GALLUP Memorial services for Donald C. Cochrane, 79, will
be 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 8, at The Fellowship Church, Gallup.
Cochrane died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009.
Cochrane was raised on a dairy farm in Wisconsin. He started a
life long career as a truck driver at the age of 15. He moved
to Gallup in 1963, where he met and married Shirley A. Tabor.
Together they raised a family, built D&S Trailer Ranch and
D&S Mobile Home Movers. Cochrane loved being with his children,
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Gallup; children, Patricia
Beckham of Canyon City, Colo., Ronald Cochrane of Cuba, Doanld
Cochrane of Aztec, Phillip Cochrane of San Bernardino, Calif.,
Richard Cochrane of Farmington, Darlene Chism of Gallup, Collette
Morphine of Edgewood, Rhonda Fry of Vinita, Okla., Ed Cochrane
of Gallup, Mary Cabrera of Fall River, Ma.; brothers, Larry Cochrane,
Sam Cochrane, both of Wi; sister, Kathy Biernot of New River,
Ariz.; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Cochrane was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Gertrude
Cochrane; brothers, James, Jay Cochrane; sisters, Helen, Hazel,
Sally, Midge; son, Robert Tabor; one granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UNM-Cardiac Care
Center, in memory of Donald Cochrane.
Lawrence Lucero
GRANTS Funeral Mass for Lawrence Lucero, 59, will be 10
a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.
Burial will be in Grants Memorial Park. The Very Rev. Alberto
Avella will officiate. Visitation will be 2-6 p.m., today, Jan.
6, at Compassion Mortuary. A rosary will be recited 7 p.m., tonight,
Jan. 6, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.
Lucero died Jan. 2, 2009, in Albuquerque. He was born Feb. 16,
1949, in Gallup.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Medina Lucero of Grants;
daughter, Cindy Medina of Grants; sisters, Flora Emerson of Grants,
Lupe Garcia of Grants, Cecelia Price of Grants, Lucy Marez of
Grants; brother, Toby Lucero of Questa; two granddaughters.
Lucero was preceded in death by his parents, Demetrio Lucero,
Dolores Vigil Lucero; brother, Jimmy Lucero.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Rodarte, Dempsey Emerson, Marc Garcia,
Michael Marez, Jimmy Lucero, Paul Garcia, Curtis Marez, Mario
DeMarsh.

Margaret Quam
ZUNI Funeral Mass for Margaret S. Quam, 89, will be 11
a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Old Laguna, N.M. Burial will be in
Old Laguna. A rosary will be recited 8 p.m., tonight, Jan. 6,
at the residence.
Quam died Jan. 4, 2009, in Zuni. She was born April 16, 1919,
in Old Laguna.
Quam graduated from Grants High School and continued her education
into the field of Medical Technology. She worked 39 years in the
medical field as a Medical Technologist at GIMA and Zuni IHS.
Survivors included her son, Ernest Quam of Zuni; daughters, Aline
Quam of Albuquerque, Gloria Quam, Williamina of Oregon, Vedna
Landavazo of Zuni, Iris Bellson of Sells, Margaret Frejo of Zuni,
Debra Badua of Zuni; sister, Susie Leon of Old Laguna; 30 grandchildren;
58 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Quam was preceded in death by her husband, Sidnew Quam; sons,
Richard Quam, Michael Quam Sr.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Quam, Steven Landavazo, Logan Kneeland,
Christopher Quam, Kelby Quam, Bradley Badua, Sammy Frejo Jr.,
Richie Frejo, Bryant Quam, Rick Quam Jr., Michael Quam Jr., Johnathan
Quam, Anthony Chopito Jr.
The family will receive relatives and friends at 1 p.m., at Old
Laguna. The family will meet at Sandy Springs Rd., Zuni.
Chris Sam
BORREGO PASS Funeral services for Chris Sam, 34, will
be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Cope Memorial Chapel, Gallup.
Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery.
Sam died Dec. 31, 2008, in Mariano Lake. He was born Nov. 3,
1974, in Gallup, into the Zia People Clan for the Edgewater People
Clan.
Sam attended Elementary School at Borrego Pass and graduated
at Thoreau High School.
He was a carpenter and loved watching football and rodeos, spending
time with family, and enjoyed ranch work. He was a Pittsburgh
Steelers fan.
Survivors include his son, Zane Cody Sam of Phoenix; parents,
Emma Sam, Paul Nez of Borrego; brother, David Sam Jr. of Chinle;
sisters, Emmilene Sam of Albuquerque, Michelle Nez of Rio Rancho;
grandfather, Tom Lee of Breadsprings.
Sam was preceded in death by his grandmother, Anna Garcia; father,
David Sam Sr.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Garcia, James Terry, Darrell Begaye,
Addie Benally, Francis Pinto, Darrin Lyons.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Grace Bible
Church, 1 p.m., following services.

James Samuel
VANDERWAGEN Services are pending for James Samuel, 81.
Samuel died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, in Gallup.
He was born Oct. 30, 1927, in Whitewater, into the Bitter Water
People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Jose Sanchez
ALBUQUERQUE Services for Jose Manuel Sanchez, 48, will
be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7, at St. Francis Church. The Rev.
Eduardo (Lalo) Espinosa, OFM, will officiate. Burial will be in
Sunset Memorial Park, Gallup. Visitation will be 12-4:30 p.m.,
today, Jan. 6. A rosary will be recited 10 a.m., at St. Francis
Church.
Sanchez died Jan. 2, 2009, in Gallup. He was born Nov. 11, 1960,
in San Joaguin, Queretaro, Mexico.
Sanchez worked at Albertsons Grocery Store as a meat cutter
for 15 years. He liked to fish and be with family in Gallup. He
also liked to shop and eat at Mesquite.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Sanchez; sons, Joshua Sanchez,
Manuel Sanchez, Daniel Sanchez; daughters, Natasha Andrade, Maria
Eugena Sanchez; mother, Sofia Sanchez; brothers, Sanson Sanchez,
Alberto Sanchez, Ramiro Sanchez, Jesus Sanchez, Palamon Sanchez;
sister, Hermelinda Resendiz; four grandchildren.
Sanchez was preceded in death by his father, Jose Sanchez.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Sanchez, Sanson Sanchez, Jesus Sanchez,
Ramiro Sanchez, Palamon Sanchez, Alberto Sanchez.
The family will receive relatives and friends at 410 Freedom
Dr., Gallup.

Alice Watchman
LUPTON Services are pending for Alice Watchman, 85.
Watchman died Jan. 3, 2009, in Gallup. She was born July 14,
1923, in Mexican Springs.
