Gods Creation
GALLUP The First United Methodist Church,
1800 Red Rock Dr., will host A Festival of Gods Creation,
a special Earth Week presentation during the 8:30 a.m. and 10:45
a.m. services on Sunday, April 27. Stephen Miller, singer, composer,
and a retired United Church of Christ minister from Albuquerque,
will be the guest presenter. Through music, drama, song, and film
the church community will celebrate the unique role we have as
Gods children in care of Mother Earth. The public is invited

Senior Retreat
GALLUP Sacred Heart Retreat Center, located
two miles south of Gallup, will host a Reflection Day for
Senior Citizens with Sister Mary Matthias Ward from 10 a.m.
to 2 p.m. on Monday, April 28. The topic is Mary, Our Instructor,
as We Age The fee is $20, and includes lunch. Reservations

Walk for Life
GALLUP The 2008 Prayer Walk for Life
will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 10 in Gallup. The one-mile
walk, which is a fund-raiser for the Gallup Crisis Pregnancy Center,
will begin and end at the downtown train station. Participants
are asked to pick up a registration packet and sign up sponsors
for their walk. Registration packets can be obtained at the Bread
of Life Bookstore, 104 S. Boardman; Gallup Crisis Pregnancy Center,
120 S. Boardman; Cedar Animal Medical Center, off North Highway
491; KHAC in Tse Bonito, N.M.; and many area churches. Information:

Gospel Gathering
TSELANI/COTTONWOOD The 14th Annual Isabelle
H. Charley Memorial Mothers Day Revival and Gospel Gathering
will be held May 12-17 at the residence of Bobby Charley, located
23 miles west of Chinle, Ariz. Events include:
May 12-16: 7 p.m. nightly revival with Skylight Ministry
and Lambert Curtis of Birdspring, Ariz.
May 17: 2 p.m: Gospel Gathering with Thomas Arviso, New

Buddhist Classes
GALLUP The Kadampa Meditation Center
of Albuquerque is sponsoring a series of beginning meditation
classes in Gallup. The classes will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
on the following Tuesdays: May 13, 20, 27, and June 3, 10, and
17 at the Gallup Community Pantry, 1130 E. Hasler Valley Road.
Community members are invited to drop into any class, and no pre-registration

Area Sports Briefs
Gallup Soccer League registration
GALLUP Registration for the Gallup Soccer
League will take place May 1, 8, and 19 from 6-8 p.m. at Roosevelt
Elementary School, 400 W. Logan.
A late registration will take place May 29 from
6-8 p.m.
Registration fees are $55 for first child in-family
and $50 for siblings. After 9 p.m. on May 19, registration fee
is $65 for each child. A state issued birth certificate is needed
for new players.
The league is for boys and girls ages 4-13 (must
be four-years-old before Aug. 1, 2008, 14-years-old after July
31, 2008. The season will be August to October.
Volunteers, coaches and referees are needed.

Sheepherders Classic
ROUGH ROCK, Ariz. The Sheepherders
Classic interdepartment mens basketball tournament will

SHIPROCK The Shiprock Northwest High

Shiprock Marathon
SHIPROCK The 25th Annual Shiprock Marathon,
Marathon Relays, Half Marathon Run and 10K Trail Walk will take
place May 3.
Registration will close April 25. Route 13 will
be closed from Red Valley to Highway 491 from 6:30 a.m.-noon for
the safety of the runners and event volunteers. A traffic detour
route has been graded from Cove turnoff to Highway 64.

British Soccer Camp
GALLUP The Gallup Youth Soccer League
will hosting the Challenger British Soccer Camp on July 7-11 at
the Gallup Soccer Complex.
Entry fees are $70 for 4 & 5-year-olds (8:30-10
a.m. or 10:10-11:40 a.m.), $98 for 6-18-year-olds (8:30-11:30
a.m. or 5:30-8:30 p.m.) and $150 for 10-18-year-olds (8:30-11:30
a.m. and 5:30-8:30 p.m.).
The Challenger British Soccer Camps is a nationwide
organization that will coach 92,000 players around the U.S. this
summer.
