Rachel Jaramillo
MILAN Funeral services for Rachel Jaramillo,
68, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 24, at the Immanuel Baptist
Church, Milan. Burial will be in Grants Memorial Park. Pastor
Garland Moore will officiate.
Jaramillo died April 19, 2008, in Grants. She
was born April 8, 1940.
Jaramillo was retired from the Grants Public
Schools where she worked at Sierra Vista and Mount Taylor Schools.
She was a member of f the AARP and the New Mexico Teacher Association.
Survivors include her daughter, Tonya Ballew
of Milan; step-daughters, Evenly Jaramillo, Mildred Jaramillo,
both of Albuquerque; sister, Josephine Flores of Las Vegas, N.M.;
brothers, Tomas Hill of Clovis, Calf., Rev. Samuel Hill of Stockton,
Calf., Larry Hill of Sacramento, Calif.; five grandchildren.
Jaramillo was preceded in death by her parents,
Oscar Hill, Soledad Hill; sister, Margaret Maes; brothers, Robert
Hill, Eugene Hill.
Pallbearers will be Robert Ballew, Justin Jaramillo,
Robert Ballew Jr., Jackie Marquez, Michael Marquez, and Mark Garcia.

Frieda Jishie
TSAILE Funeral services for Frieda Jishie,
74, will be 10 a.m. April 24, at St. Isabelle Mission, Lukachukui.
Father Blane Grein will officiate. Burial will be in Community
Cemetery, Lukachukai. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. preceding services.
Jishie died April 19, 2008, in Prescott. She
was born May 1, 1933, in Tsaile, into the Near the Water People
Clan for the Waters Edge People Clan.
Survivors include her many grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Jishie was preceded in death by her parents,
TabaahiDeal, Mary Helen Jishie; sister, Lucy Smith;
brothers, Frank Jishie Sr., Freddie Jishie.
The family will receive relatives and friends
at Emma Yazzies residence, following services.

Martine died Monday, April 21, 2008, in Pine
Hill. She was born Nov. 23, 1911, in Mountain View, into the Meadow
People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.

Ned Mitchell Sr.
COTTONWOOD, Ariz. Services for Ned Mitchell
Sr., 80, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 24, at Black Mountain
Mission, Black Mountain. Pastor Daniel Smiley will officiate.
Burial will be in Mission Cemetery, Black Mountain.
Mitchell died April 19, 2008, in Chinle. He
was born April 9, 1928, in Black Mountain, into the Honey Combed
People Clan for the Water Flows Together People Clan.
Mitchell worked on the railroad in his early
years and most of his life he was a rancher.
Survivors include his son, Ned Mitchell Jr.
of Cottowood; daughter, Connie M. Tsosie of Cottonwood; one grandchild.
Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents,
James and Keetsechee Bima Haglene Mitchell; brothers, Reid Naize
Sr., Carl Reed, Alfred N. Mitchell, Dennis Mitchell; sister, Mary
Alice Tsosie.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Tsosie, Faustino Trejo,
Cuahutemoe Tukan, Jesse Bahe, James Bahe and Alfonzo Burbank.
The family will receive relatives and friends
at Connie Tsosies residence, April 23 and 24, 1/4 mile west
of Cottonwood Day School.

Ervin Nelson
WIDE RUINS Services for Ervin Rick Nelson,
65, will be 10 a.m. today, April 23, at St. Johns Catholic
Church, Houck. Father Bernard will officiate. Burial will be in
the familys cemetery, Wide Ruins.
Nelson died April 19, 2008, in Phoenix. He was
born Sept. 8, 1942, in Wide Ruins, into the Towering House People
Clan for the One Who Walks Around You People Clan.
Nelson attended Wide Ruins Boarding School and
finished high school at Phoenix Indian School. He served on the
Arts and Crafts committee at the Palace of the Governor, Santa
Fe. He was a silversmith, loved to cook, and help at state fairs.
Nelson enjoyed playing basketball and walking/running.
Survivors include his daughter, Elvina J. Nelson;
brothers, Henry A. Nelson of Burtwater, Amos Nelson of Lukackus,
Tommy Nelson of Farmington; sister, Louise T. Nelson of Wide Ruins;
four grandchildren.
Nelson was preceded in death by his wife, Ella
Mae Scott-Nelson; son, Elvin Nelson; parents, Gloria Yellowhorse-Nelson,
Albert A. Nelson; brothers, Joe Nelson, Gilbert Nelson; sisters,
Lucille Mae Joe, Lynn G. Jensen, Kathleen Morris, Irene Nelson.
Pallbearers will be Ron Scott, Raynard Scott,
Shawn Nelson, Randy Hoskie, Kevin Anderson, Romon Scott.
The family will receive relatives and friends
at Wide Ruins Chapter House, following services.

Jacqueline Sherman
GALLUP Funeral services for Jacqueline
Sherman, 48, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 24, at the Stronghold
Church, Gallup. Pastor Rick Begay will officiate. Burial will
be in Rehoboth Community Cemetery.
Sherman died April 18, 2008, in Albuquerque.
She was born Sept. 23, 1959, in Rehoboth, into the Bitter Water
People Clan for the Two Came to the Water People Clan.
Sherman graduated from Many Farms High School
in 1977. She worked at Teds Pawn Shop in Gallup for 20 years.
Survivors include her sons, Sgt. Bodie, Eli
R., Dustin Sherman, Jonathan Sherman; daughter, Savannah Star
Sherman; brothers, Jeffery Saunders, Ronald Saunders; three grandchildren.
Sherman was preceded in death by Tommy Sherman,
Tommy Sherman II, Delbert Saunders, Maxine Saunders, Delbert Saunders
Jr.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Bahe, Franklin Bodie,
Jared Howe, Cameron Saunders, Ryan Williams, and Tyler Williams.
The family will meet 2 p.m. April 24, at the
Iyanbito Chapter House.
