Deaths
Woodrow Badonie
TOHATCHI Services for Woodrow Nez Badonie,
91, will be at 10 a.m., Monday, April 14, 2008 at Little Sisters
of the Poor in Gallup. Fr. Tachias will officiate. Burial will
follow in the community cemetery in Tohatchi.
A Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m., Sunday,
April 13, 2008 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Tohatchi.
Badonie died April 9, 2008 in Gallup. He was
born Dec. 25, 1916 in Tohatchi into the Towering House People
Clan for the Hairy Ones People Clan.
Badonie was a resident of Tohatchi and spent
the last eight years as at the Little Sisters of The Poor. He
enjoyed collecting and making Navajo herbs and spending time with
family and friends.
Survivors include his five sons Andrew Badonie,
Richard Badonie, Harrison Badonie, Olson Badonie, Benson Badonie;
daughter Rita Mitchell; brothers Woody Badonie of Twin lakes,
N.M., Billy Badonie of Tohatchi and numerous granchildren.
He was preceded in death by son Woodrow Badonie
Jr.; parents Hosteen Nez Badonie, Evelyn Allison Badonie; sisters,
Grace D. Yazzie, Loretta Badonie; brothers Eddie Badonie, Notah
Badonie.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Badonie Sr., Melvin
Badonie, Deon Ben, Billy Badonie Jr., DeWayne Badonie and Derrick
Badonie.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Anita Ethelbah Eicke
SANTA CLARA PUEBLO Services for Anita
Ethelbah Eicke, 75, will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 14, 2008
at Valley View United Methodist Church in Espanola, N.M. A reception
at the church fellowship hall will follow the service. Burial
will follow at the Santa Fe National Cementary at 1:30 p.m.
Eicke died March 29, 2008. She was born on March
11, 1933 in Santa Fe. She was of Santa Clara and White Mountain
Apache heritage.
She grew up in Santa Fe and graduated from Santa
Fe High School in 1951. She was honored by being named the first
Native American Indian Princess at the Santa Fe. Fiesta. After
the birth of her three children, she and her husband lived in
Gallup where as a volunteer, she assisted in the administration
of the Gallup Indian Ceremonial and became the first Native American
woman to serve on the Board of Directors. She was an advocate
for all mentally ill Indian people in the Gallup area founding
the McKinley County affiliate of NAMI (the National Alliance for
the Mentally Ill). She served on the Governor's Mental Health
Council under two governors.
Survivors include son Robert Robinson of Espanola,
father Upton S. Ethelbah of Albuquerque, daughter Laurie Jo Pierce,
son-in-law Tim, 8 step-grandchildren, 11 step-great-grand children,
and a large extended family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by husband Darrell,
son Charles Robinson, mother Josephine Naranjo Ethelbah, brother
Eugene C. Ethelbah, stepdaughter Sally Burke.
Pall bearers: Upton Ethelbah, Upton Ethelbah
Jr. Robert M. Robinson, Upton Ethelbah III, Lucas K. Ethelbah,
Tim Pierce.
Donations can be made in Anita's name to the
Santal Clara Pueblo Senior Center or to the Anita Ethelbah Eicke
Memorial Bible Fund at Valley View Methodist Church, 827 Spruce
Street, Espanola, NM.

Glenn Loretto
BLUEWATER Services for Glenn Loretto,
57, will be announced at a later date.
Loretto died April 11, 2008 in Grants. He was
born May 22, 1950 in Bluewater.
A family meeting will be on Sunday, April 13
at 3 p.m., at the Prewitt-Baca Chapter House.
Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Linda Rice
GALLUP Services for Linda Alice Rice,
62, will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at the Kingdom
Hall Jehovahs Witnesses.
Rice died April 8, 2008 in Gallup. She was born
Feb. 2, 1946 in Monte Vista, Colo.
Survivors include her son Rusty Rice; mother
Ellen Brokaw and stepfather Charles Brokaw, both of Gallup; and
two grandchildren.
