Crownpoint senior center plan OKd by panel Copyright © 2008 WINDOW ROCK The Navajo Nation Councils Health and Social Services Committee recommended passage of a grant to plan, design and construct a senior center in Crownpoint for $198,000 from the New Mexico Aging and Long-Term Services Department. The committee further recommended that the Navajo Area Agency on Aging provide updated budget forms since the grant had gotten lost in the process for approval and the budget forms were from 2005. The initiation of this project started in 05, committee member Evelyn Acothley, Bodaway Gap/Cameron/Coppermine, said. The division really needs to set up a tracking system to avoid all these lost documents that cause delayed projects, the loss of funds. Harry Claw, Chinle, also said, $198,000 thats a lot of money and I hate to see it go back. The request to accept the grant, sponsored by Harry Hubbard, Lake Valley/Becenti/Standing Rock/White Rock, next goes before the Intergovernmental Relations Committee. |
