Calvin Cardy

CRYSTAL — Funeral services for Calvin Cardy, 52, will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 24, at Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church Stake Center, Gallup. Robert Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Fort Defiance Veteran’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be 9-9:45 a.m., Dec. 24, at the Church.

Cardy died Dec. 19, 2008, in Crystal. He was born Aug. 16, 1956, in Los Angeles, Calif., into the Charcoal Streaked Division of the Red Running Into the Water People Clan for the Red House People Clan.

Cardy attended from Ganado High School, Tucson High School and University of Arizona. He was employed with Navajo Forest Products Industries, Prescott National Forest, BIA forestry, Navajo Nation Rangers and Navajo Nation Fish and Wildlife. Cardy was on the shoot team, a firearms instructor, and taught hunters education. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry and was stationed in Fort Hood, Fort Bliss, Fort Benning, Frankfurt Germany. His hobbies included photography, silversmithing, leather work, and archery. He loved the outdoors and made a career out of it. He enjoyed the rodeo circuit and participated as a bull rider.

Survivors include his wife, Verna Mae Cardy; son, Lorenzo Cardy of Flagstaff; daughters, Fenelia Cardy Castruita of Fort Defiance, Nastassja Chavez Flagstaff, Celeste Cardy of Crystal; mother, Jennie Benward; brothers, Wayne Benward, Wesley Benward, Willard Benward Jr., Wendell Benward; sisters, Vera J. Cardy, Andrea Hoffman, Marilyn Cardy, Jacquline Benward; grandfather, Sam Mose of Crystal; seven grandchildren.

Cardy was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Blanch Irving, Frances Mose; grandfathers, Tom and Dennis Irving.

Pallbearers will be Wendell Benward, Wayne Benward, Lorenzo Cardy, Juan Castruita, Jose Chavez, Kenneth Hoffman.

The Honor Guard will be by Tse Hootsoi Twin Warriors Society.

The family will receive relatives and friends 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 24, at Crystal Chapter House.

Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Pauline Charley-Dodge

MARIANO LAKE — Services are pending for Pauline Charley-Dodge, 56.

Charley-Dodge died Dec. 20, 2008, in Phoenix. She was born June 8, 1952, in Crownpoint.

A family gathering will be 5 p.m., tonight, Dec. 23, at Mariano Lake Community Bible Church. Family and friends are encouraged to attend.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Cecil Morgan

CROWNPOINT — Services for Cecil Morgan, 100, will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 24, at Crownpoint Christian Reformed. The Rev. Norman Chee will officiate.

Morgan died Dec. 21, 2008, in Gallup. He was born Nov. 20, 1908, in Standing Rock.

Morgan attended high school. He worked as a court clerk and worked in the trading post, did bead work and did word find puzzle books. He made weaving tools, and loved to read and do scrap books.

Survivors include his sons, Robert C. Morgan, Simon Morgan, James Morgan; daughters, Laura M. Morgan, Jean M. Johnson, Gladys Charlie, Selma Hale, Irma Hudson, Anita M. Richardson; 28 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren.

Morgan was preceded in death by his son, Angus P. Morgan; wife, Lillian M. Morgan.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Gary Williams

MENTMORE —Services are pending for Gary Alan Williams, 47.

Williams died Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, in Gallup.

He was born July 3, 1961, in Alton, Ill.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
