Duane Coleman

KAIBETO — Services for Duane Jory Coleman, 32, will be 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22 at Rollie Mortuary. Pastor Sammy Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Gallup.

Coleman died Saturday, Sept. 16 in Phoenix. He was born Aug. 20, 1974 in Gallup into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Many Goats People Clan.

Survivors include wife, Melissa Coleman of Navajo Mountain, Ariz.; son, Deion Jay Coleman of Kaibeto; daughter, Delilah Coleman of Kaibeto; parents, Don Coleman, Jr. of Page and Bernice Coleman of Kaibeto.

Pallbearers will be Roderick Bahe, Melvin Livingston, Nathaniel Livingston, Raymanuel Livingston, Roy Livingston and Bahe Wilson.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Michael Attson, Sr.

CHINLE — Services for Michael Attson, Sr., 51, will be 10 a.m. Friday Sept. 22 at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Chinle. Father Blane Grein, OFM, will officiate. Burial will follow at the family plot in Chinle.

Attson died Sunday, Sept. 17 in Chinle. He was born Dec. 5, 1954 in Ganado into the Tangle People Clan for the Coyote Pass People Clan.

Attson attended Chinle High School and Kicking Horse Job Corp upon receiving a certificate in carpentry. He was a police officer in Window Rock, drove semi-trucks for Digby, coached a baseball team called the Red Ants in Chinle and he was enrolled in the Legal Advocacy Program at the Navajo Community College. His hobby was assisting in teaching youth at the Chinle Civic Center about boxing while titling as a Golden Glove Boxer.

Survivors include sons, Delbert Attson, Eric Attson, Shawn Attson, Michael Attson, Jr. all of St. Michael and Sgt. Hoskie Attson of Camp Pendelton, Calif.; daughters, Jessica Attson and Monica Chee both of St. Michaels; sisters, Judy Attson of Chinle, Evangeline Hartsock of Chinle and Cecelia Lowe of Gallup and five grandchildren.

Attson was preceded in death by father, Thomas Attson, mother, Bessie Carroll, brothers, Elmer Attson, Francis Attson and Egbert Attson, Sr. and stepfather, Joe Carroll.

Pallbearers will be Marvin Attson, Michael La Pointe, Gregory Shortey, Kee Toadlena, Leroy Tsiniginnie and Eugene Tso.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Nellie Agwiak

MARIANO LAKE — Memorial services for Nellie Snyder Agwiak, 68, will be 11 a.m., today, Sept. 21, at Mariano Lake Church at Jones Dehiya place in Mariano Lake. Jones Dehiya will officiate.

Agwiak died Sept. 5 in Gardena, Calif. She was born May 27, 1938 in Mariano Lake into the Meadow People Clan for Tree Stretcher People Clan.

Agwiak attended Crownpoint Boarding School, job training in Chimawa, Ore. Her hobbies included listening to oldies music, watching TV, cooking and watching her grandkids.

Survivors include daughters, Dorthy Agwiak, Betty Agwiak and Zena Agwiak, all of Gardena, Calif.; brothers, Roy Snyder of Mariano Lake, Bennie Snyder of Santa Ana, Calif. and Jimmie Snyder of Mariano Lake; sisters, Nova Paige of Mariano Lake, and Eleanor Snyder of Gallup and four grandchildren.

Agwiak was preceded in death by husband, Cryus Agwiak, parents, Charles and Dolly Snyder, brother, Tony Snyder, sisters, Shirley Snyder and Shiela Synder; grandparents, Da' giahi' and Zonnie Snyder.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Mariano Lake Chapter House after services.


Stella Falcon

ALBUQUERQUE — Services for Stella Falcon, 78, were 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19 at St. Francis Catholic Church. Father Gerry Steinmetz, OFM, officiated. Burial followed at Sunset Memorial Park in Gallup.

Falcon died Sept. 17 in Albuquerque. She was born March 21, 1928 in Dawson, N.M.

Survivors include her husband, Juan Falcon of Gallup; son, John Falcon of Gallup; daughter, Irene Montoya of Gallup; brother, Juan Jesus Carrillo; sisters, Julia Garcia of Gallup and Manuela McKinley of Flagstaff, ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Falcon was preceded in death by father, Juan Jose Carrillo, Daria Carrillo, daughter, Rose Borunda and son, Andrew Falcon.

Pallbearers were Glenn Cleland, Tyler Falcon, Frank Montoya, Frank Montoya, Jr., Jerry Montoya and Steve Rubio.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


George Begay, Jr.

HOUCK, Ariz. — Services for George Nelson Begay, Jr., 40, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22 at St. John the Evangelist Church in Houck. Father Cormac Antram, OFM, will officiate. Burial will follow at the Community Cemetery in Houck.

Begay died Sept. 18 in Albuquerque. He was born July 18, 1966 in Showlow, Ariz, into the Saline Water People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Begay attended Tohatchi Boarding School and Wingate High School. His hobbies included listening to music, singing, cooking, spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include mother, Annie Nez; sister, Lisa Okee; grandmother, Mary Todokozie.

Begay was preceded in death by parents, George N. Begay, Sr. and Mary Louise Smith; grandparents, Neil Smith, Sr., Rose Murphy Smith, Roland Begay and Mary Y. Begay.

Pallbearers will be Lester Nez, Vernon Nez, Felix Begay, Leopold Barney, Darryle Begay and Frank Bailey.

The family will receive relatives and family at Houck Chapter House after services.


Boyd Luna

KAYENTA, Ariz. — Services for Boyd Hugh Luna, 92, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Kayenta.

Luna died Sept. 10 in Chinle. He was born Dec. 15, 1914 in Kayenta into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Reed People Clan.

Luna attended Tuba City BIA School and graduated from Albuquerque Academy High School. He served in the Pacific Theater of WWII until the Japanese surrendered. He retired from the BIA Gallup office as a mechanic and he was a member of the Gallup VFW Post

Survivors include brother, Phil Luna of Kayenta.

Luna was preceded in death by wife, Evelyn Luna; father, Lawrence Luna, brothers, Sampson, Burt, Hugh Burns and Bob; sister Nora Burns.

Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
