Joe Herrera
GALLUP Services for Joe Herrera, 67, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday,
Sept. 20 at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Very Reverend Lawrence J. O'Keffe,
OFM will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
A rosary will be recited on 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19 at Sacred Heart
Cathedral.
Herrera died Friday, Sept. 15 in Gallup. He was born Dec. 27, 1938 in
Gallup.
Herrera was a former district marshal and district deputy. He held various
offices in 3rd and 4th degree in the Gallup council and assembly. He
served in Army and retired after 37 years employment from California
Market.
Survivors include wife, Josie Herrera of Gallup; sons, Matthew Paul
Herrera and Joseph Herrera, both of Gallup; daughters, Lisa Fierro and
Frances Garcia, both of Gallup; brothers, Edward Archuleta of Albuquerque,
Tony Archulita of Denver and Victor Herrera of Los Lunas; sister, Carol
Vasquez of Gallup, ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Herrera was preceded in death by father, Anastacio Martinez, mother,
Lupe Edwards, son, Mark Edward Herrera and brother, Leroy Martinez.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Knights of Columbus
for their charity work.

Nellie Agwiak
MARIANO LAKE Memorial services for Nellie Synder Agwiak, 68,
will be 11 a.m., Sept. 21, at Mariano Lake Church at Jones Dehiya place
in Mariano Lake. Jones Dehiya will officiate.
Agwiak died Sept. 5 in Gardena, Calif. She was born May 27, 1938 in
Mariano Lake into the Meadow People Clan for Tree Stretcher People Clan.
Agwiak attended Crownpoint Boarding School, job training in Chimawa,
Ore. Her hobbies include listening to oldies music, watching TV, cooking
and watching her grandkids.
Survivors include daughters, Dorthy Agwiak, Betty Agwiak and Zena Agwiak,
all of Gardena, Calif.; brothers, Roy Synder of Mariano Lake, Bennie
Synder of Santa Ana, Calif. and Jimmie Synder of Mariano Lake; sisters,
Nova Paige of Mariano Lake, and Eleanor Synder of Gallup and four grandchildren.
Agwiak was preceded in death by husband, Cryus Agwiak, parents, Charles
and Dolly Synder, brother, Tony Synder, sister, Shirley Synder and Shiela
Synder; grandparents, Da' giahi' and Zonnie Synder.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Mariano Lake Chapter
House after services.
Stella Falcon
ALBUQUERQUE Services for Stella Falcon, 78, will be 10 a.m.
Tuesday, Sept. 19 at St. Francis Catholic Church. Father Gerry Steinmetz,
OFM, will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Gallup.
Falcon died Sunday, Sept. 17 in Albuquerque. She was born March 21,
1928 in Dawson, N.M.
Survivors include her husband, Juan Falcon of Gallup; son, John Falcon
of Gallup and daughter, Irene Montoya of Gallup, ten grandchildren,
ten great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Falcon was preceded in death by father, Juan Jesus Carrillo, Daria Carrillo,
daughter, Rose Borunda and son, Andrew Falcon.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Cleland, Tyler Falcon, Frank Montoya, Jr.,
Jerry Montoya and Steve Rubio.

Hoskey Deswood, Jr.
MANY FARMS Services for Hoskey Deswood, Jr., 49, will be 10
a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20 at Our Lady Fatima Catholic Church in Chinle.
Burial will follow at family land in Many Farms.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20 at Chinle Catholic Church.
Deswood, Jr. died Sept. 15 in Chinle. He was born May 11, 1957 in Fort
Defiance into the Water Flows Together People Clan for Water's Edge
People Clan.
Deswood, Jr. attended Chinle High School, worked for the railroad under
Union Pacific and belonged to NAC as a roadman. His hobbies include
helping people, riding horses, NAC instrument maker, beading, making
drum sticks and NAC fans.
Survivors include wife, Cecelia Taylor; sons, Andre Deswood and Adrian
Deswood; daughters, Cleora Francis, Georgina George and Tiffany Blackgoat;
brothers, Dennis Deswood, Ben Deswood, Emerson Deswood and Daniel Deswood;
sisters, Veronica Deswood-Tah, Virginia Deswood, Lena A. Begay and Roselyn
Tsosie and six grandchildren.
Deswood, Jr. was preceded in death by mother, Nancy Deswood and brother,
Howard Deswood.
Pallbearers will be Emerson Deswood, Larusso Begay, James Francis, George
Taylor, Herbert Teller and Marvin Rockbridge.
The family will receive relatives and friends at 3.5 miles S. of Many
Farms Conoco Store.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Nathaniel Descheenie
CHINLE Services for Nathaniel Descheenie, 25, will 10 a.m. Wednesday,
Sept. 20 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Chinle.
Burial will follow at Community Cemetery in Chinle.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
Descheenie died Sept. 15 in Chinle. He was born July 21, 1981 in Ganado
into the Edge Water People Clan for Honeycombed People Clan.
Descheenie attended Chinle Elementary, Chinle Jr. High School and Chinle
High School. He was employed in Phoenix. His hobbies include helping
friends and family, cooking, cleaning, camping and fishing.
Survivors include, parents, Roseann Tully Begay; brothers, Andrew Michael
Begay, sisters, Bernadette Descheenie and Melissa Descheenie; grandparents,
Benjamin Descheenie.
Descheenie was preceded in death by grandparents, Ella Mae Silversmith
and Russel Tully Begay, Lola Begay, brother, Raymond Alan Begay.
Pallbearers include Aaron Francis, Sherwin Tracey, Alberto Toddy, Adelbert
Toddy, Alfred Toddy, Jonathan Adsion, Henry Silversmith, Jr., Andrew
Begay and Albert Toddy, Sr.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Henry Silversmith,
Jr. residence.
Larry Johnson
TWIN LAKES Services for Larry Dean Johnson, 61, will be announce
at a later date.
Johnson died Sept. 17 in Farmington. He was born Feb. 2, 1945 in Flagstaff
into the Meadow People Clan for the Weaver People Clan.
The family will meet today Sept. 19, at 6 p.m. at the Twin Lakes Chapter
House.

Duane Coleman
KAIBETO Services for Duane Jory Coleman. 32, will be announce
at a later date.
Coleman died Saturday, Sept. 16 in Phoenix. He was born Aug. 20, 1974
in Gallup into the Bitterwater People Clan for the Many Goat People
Clan.
