Emma Montoya-Chavez, Shibata
GALLUP Services for Emma Montoya Chavez
Shibata, 78, will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 2 at Sacred Heart
Cathedral in Gallup. The Very Rev. Lawrence J. O'Keefe will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery.
A rosary will be at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 1 at Sacred Heart Cathedral.
Montoya-Chavez, Shibata died Nov. 28 in Gallup. She was born June
19, 1928 in Gallup. She graduated from Gallup Catholic School
in 1948 and moved to Atarque, then moved back to Gallup in 1966.
She worked as a cook at Lincoln Elementary School and owned Tom's
Variety Store, which closed in 1981. She was a member of the RMCH
Auxiliary for 30 years. She worked with the Board of Elections
as a clerk and judge for 32 years. Her hobbies included sewing,
crocheting, quilting and cooking for and spending time with her
grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons Edward I. Shibata of Falmouth, Mass.,
David Shibata of Camas, Wash., Kenneth L. Chavez of Scottsdale,
Ariz., Terry Allen Chavez of Gallup, Rick Shibata of San Pablo,
Calif.; brothers Pino Montoya of Gallup; sisters Eva Marquez,
June Quintana, Stella Martinez, all of Albuquerque, Frances Romero
of Seboyeta and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son Louis Chavez Jr.; daughters
Christine Chavez and Cynthia Chavez, husbands, Louis F. Chavez
and Edward Shibata Sr.; parents, Barney Montoya and Sara Montoya
and one brother Barney Montoya Jr.
Friend and neighbor Esther Candelaria will carry her urn.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallup Community
Service Center, 410 Bataan Veterans Street in Gallup after services.
Lindrith Chee
LUPTON Services for Lindrith T. Chee
"Herc", 21, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 at Cope
Memorial Chapel in Gallup. Pastor Ronnie Yazzie will officiate.
Chee died Nov. 25 in Mentmore. He was born April 27, 1985 in Gallup
into the Edge Water People Clan for One Who Walks Around People
Clan.
Chee attended Central High School. His hobbies include writing
rap lyrics about friends and family. He enjoyed spending time
with family and friends.
Survivors include brothers, Donovan Chee of Chinle and Vincent
Chee of Gallup; sisters, Valerie Baker of Lupton and Adrianne
Chee of Albuquerque; grandmother, Alice James.
Chee was preceded in death by grandparents, Billy James, Elmo
and Louise Baker.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallup Lions
Club Hall after services.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
