John Skeet

COUSINS, N.M. — Services for John Thompson Skeet, 82, will be 10 a.m. today, Nov. 20 at Oak View Bible Church in Chichiltah, N.M. Herbert Francisco will officiate. Burial will follow at the family plot in Chichiltah.

Skeet died Nov. 15 in Farmington. He was born April 15, 1924 in Cousin's into the Red Bottom People Clan for the Black Sheep People Clan.

Skeet attended the Chichiltah Boarding School and worked for the railroad. His hobbies include herding sheep and horseback riding.

Survivors include sons, Frankie, Larry, Calvin and Phillup Skeet of Cousins; daughter, Nancy Rose King of Cousin; brothers, John Wilson of Cousins and John Nelson of Breadsprings; sisters, Elouise Francisco, Ella Francisco, Nellie R. Yazzie and Dorothy Benally, all of Cousins; 19 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Skeet was preceded in death by wife, Irene Skeet; father, Joe Skeet and mother, Betty T. Smith; brothers, Jimmy T. Skeet and Alan Chee Skeet; sister Bah Yazzie Nelson.

Pallbearers will be Ivan Skeet, Calvin Skeet, Phillup Nelson, Emerson Nelson, Martin Francisco and Donald Spencer.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Jimmy Francisco's residence.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.


Rosalio Baca Sr.

SAN MATEO, N.M. — Funeral Mass for Rosalio S. Baca Sr., 80, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21 at San Mateo Catholic Church in San Mateo. Father Alberto Avella will officiate. Graveside Services will follow at San Mateo Cemetery in San Mateo.

A rosary was 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19 at Saint Teresa de Avila Catholic Church. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at San Mateo Catholic Church. Additional Holy Rosary Meditaition will be 7 p.m. Monday at San Mateo Catholic Church.

Baca died Nov. 17. He was born June 13, 1926 in San Mateo.

Baca was a lifelong resident of San Mateo and member of Saint Teresa de Avila Catholic Church. Baca served in the U.S. Navy and retired after 35 years from Anaconda Mill.

Survivors include wife, Rafaelita Baca of Grants; sons, Gerald Baca of M.A.K. Ranch, Billy Baca of Albuquerque, Jimmy Baca, Damian Baca and Rosalio Baca Jr., all of Grants; daughter, Alyce Baumann of Grants; brother, Santiago Baca Jr. of Albuquerque; sister, Della Lucero of Placitas; 12 grandchildren, 12 step grandchildren and eight step great-grandchildren.

Baca was preceded in death by parents, Santiago Baca and Rafaelita Baca; brothers, Elfego Baca and Anastacio Baca.

Pallbearers will be Steve Baumann, Gerald Baca, Billy Baca, Jimmy Baca, Damian Baca and Rosalio Baca Jr.


Nellie Yazzie

ST. MICHAELS, Ariz. — Funeral services for Nellie Barbara Yazzie, 68, are pending.

Yazzie died Saturday, Nov. 18 in Ft. Defiance, Ariz. She was born on April 17, 1938 in Crownpoint, N.M. into the Two Who Came to Water People Clan and for the Bitter Water People Clan.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
