Billie John Brown

MANUELITO — Funeral services for Billie John Brown, 85 will be today, May 3, at 10 a.m., at the LDS Stake Center in Gallup. 1st Counselor, Brother Delbert Brown will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot Tse De Tha Canyon in Manuelito, N.M.

Visitation will be today at 9 a.m. at the LDS Stake Center.

Brown died April 29, in Manuelito and was born July 25, 1920 in Lupton, Ariz. for the Black Streak Forest People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Brown worked as a silversmith, heavy machine operator, and railroad foreman. His hobbies included rodeos and ranching.

Survivors include his wife, Winnona Y. Brown; sons Gilbert Brown, Benjamin Brown, Clifford Brown Tsos Brown, all of Manuelito, N.M., Wallace Brown, of Page, Ariz., Edward Brown of Summit, Utah, Kenneth Brown, Delbert Brown, both of Gallup; daughters Genevieve Baldwin, Winifred "Sunshine" Clifton, both of Manuelito, N.M.; sisters Nellie Begay, Mary Loy of Lupton, Ariz.; 52 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Brown was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Yedanebah Brown; daughter, Marcella Brown; sons William Brown, Ervin Brown,; brothers John Brown, Dick Brown; sisters Alice, Mary.

Pallbearers will be Rafferty Brown, Shane Brown, Troy Baldwin, Ricky Brown, Ray Loy, Alfred Brown.

Reception will be today at the Lupton Chapter House, at 1 p.m.Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.


Lucy Villa

GALLUP — Rosary and services for Lucy Villa, 91, will be Saturday, May 6, at 9 a.m. in Gallup. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

Villa died April 24, in Grants, and was born Jan. 29, 1915 in Juarez, Mexico.

Survivors include her son, Steven Meza of Gallup; stepdaughter, Isabelle Gonzales of Tucson; brother John C. Sarmiento of Mass.; four grandchildren.

Villa was preceded in death by her husband, Trinidad Villa,; parents, Juan Sarmiento and Refujio "Cuca" Sarmiento; daughters, Sarah Gonzales, Melquiades Mesa; son, Johnny Mesa; sisters, Manuela Chavez, Concha Mendoza, Luisa Ortega; brothers Pete Sarmiento, Raul Sarmiento.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice. A reception will be at 711 West Wilson following burial services.

Willie Wood Tsosie

SAWMILL — Funeral services for Willie Wood Tsosie 75, will be at 10 a.m., Thursday May 4 at St. Michaels Catholic Mission in St. Michaels, Ariz. Father Gilbert Schneider, OFM, will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Gallup. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.

Tsosie died April 28 in Albuquerque, and was born March 14,1931 in Round Rock, Ariz. into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Big Water People Clan.

Tsosie attended school in Sawmill, Ft. Defiance and went on to Riverside, Calif. He worked as a heavy equipment operator, auto mechanic, welder, electrician and building tradesman.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Davis Tsosie; sons, Bennie Chee, Dennis Marks, Benjamin Mark; daughters Lorraine Tsosie, Anna Dalgai, Laverna Tallwood, Roslyn Tsosie, Mary Rose Shirley; brothers Hoskie Wood, Kee Tsinnijinnie, Thomas Tsinnijinnie; sisters Mary Louise Tsosie, Sarah Wilson, Dorothy Charley and one grandchild.

Tsosie was preceded in death by her parents, Hastin Nez Cina Zini and Stella Bah; brothers Thomas Tsosie, Dan Wood, Andrew Wood; sons David Chee, Danny Chee, Michael Chee Mark; daughters Lorraine Chee Mark, Dororthy Chee Lee.

Pallbearers will be family members.

The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Michael Parish Hall following services.


Jackson Poyer Jr.

NAVAJO — Funeral services for Jackson Poyer Jr., 35, will be at the Compassion Harbor Outreach Center, 10 a.m. Thursday, May 5. Alvin Cayaditto will officiate. interment will follow at the family plot inNavajo, N.M.

Jackson died April 29 in Gallup and was born Sept. 29, 1970 in Los Angeles, Calif. into the Mexican People Clan for the Folded Arms Clan.

His hobbies included basketball, fishing, model cares, working on houses, going to church and being with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Carleen Poyer of Navajo; parents, Jackson Poyer Sr. and Sadie Poyer both of Navajo; sons, Aaron Poyer, Kylan Poyer, Nevin Poyer, all of Navajo; daughters, Chelsea Poyer, Kristyanna Poyer all of Navajo; sister Aretha Mariano of Navajo; brothers Doranci J. Poyer, Jason D. Poyer, both of Navajo, and one grandchild.

Poyer was preceded in death by grandparents, Glenhabah K. and Tsinnijinnie Begay, George and Alice Poyer.

Phillip Chischilly, Jr.

CROWNPOINT — Funeral services for Phillip Chischilly Jr., 36, are pending.

Chischilly died April 30, in Phoenix. He was born Feb. 8, 1970 in Crownpoint, into the Zuni People Clan for the Red Running Into the Water People Clan.

James A. MIller

GALLUP — Funeral services for James A. Miller 86, are pending.

Miller died April 30, in Rio Rancho, N.M. and was born April 18, 1920 in Gallup.

A reception will be Thursday, May 4, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 1108 Piano, in Gallup.
