Laverne Begay
PINE SPRINGS, Ariz. Services for Laverne C. Begay, 88, will
be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 1 at Rollie Mortuary. Rev. A. Brenda
Morgan will officiate. Burial will follow at the Gallup City Cemetery.
Begay died March 26 in Lower Greasewood, Ariz. She was born June 15,
1917 in Pine Springs into the Big Water People Clan for the Honey Combed
Rock People Clan.
Survivors include her sons, James C. Begay of Pine Springs, Kenneth
Begay of Page, Ariz.; daughter, Maxine Francisco of Prewitt, nine grandchildren,
and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Begay; brothers Sam
Dick, Chee Mitchell and Adolph Tso.
Pallbearers will be family members
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Ray Kanuho
TEETSO, Ariz. Funeral prayer services for Ray Kanuho were held
10 a.m. Thursday, March 30, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Winslow,
Ariz. Celebrant was Father Frank Chacon.
Ray Kanuho, 85, of Teesto, Ariz., died March 27. He was a Native American
Church Roadman and a World War II veteran. He was of the Big Water Clan
and born for the Manygoats Clan. He was born and raised on the Din Nation.
He is survived by his sister; Amelia (Kanuho) Yazzie of Teesto, Ariz.;
children Parson Kanuho, Roseann Jones, Delores Malone, all of Teesto,
Ariz. , Eloise Joseph of Winslow, Kathy Kanuho of Phoenix, and Gilbert
Ray Kanuho of Flagstaff, Ariz.
He is survived by many cousins, relatives, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers; Dennis Kanuho and Andrew Kanuho;
his sister Helen (Kanuho) Joey; his first wife of 34 years, Louise Jackson
Kanuho; his second wife, Nellie Iyua Kanuho; his parents, Hosteen Lil
Yellowhair and Lillie Kanuho.

Wilbert Pioche
SHIPROCK Services for Wilbert "Tweety" Pioche, 56,
will be announced at a later date. Pioche died March 28 in Shiprock.
He was born Aug. 9 in Fort Defiance.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
