Camelita Alonzo

GALLUP — Funeral Mass for Camelita Alonzo, 71 will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 21 at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Father Gerry will officiate. Burial will be at the Gallup City Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Rollie Mortuary Palm Chapel, today, March 20 at 11 a.m. A rosary will also be recited today, March 20, at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 7 p.m.

Alonzo died on March 16 in Gallup. She was born on November 27, 1934 in La Jara, NM. Carmelita enjoyed gardening, painting and drawing. She belonged to the St. Francis Choir for many years. She collected angels and loved caring for her grandchildren.Survivors include her husband, Magdaleno "KIKI" Alonzo of Gallup; sons, Edward "Eddie" Alonzo, Lawrence "Lencho" Alonzo and Magdaleno "Meno" Alonzo, all of Gallup; daughters, Josie Hackett and Stephanie Martinez, both of Gallup and Carlone Rohan of Albuquerque; sisters, Belle Campbell of Colorado and Estella Crespin of Cuba, NM; brothers, Ismael "Smiley" Gonzales of Gallup and Medardo Gonzales of Grants; 26 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren.

Alonzo was preceded in death by her parents, Elizardo and Emelia Gonzales.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Alonzo Jr., Josh Alonzo, Robert Alonzo, Josef Chavez, Patric Chavez, Nathan Crespin, Armando Rohan and Christopher Rohan.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Knights of Columbus Hall following the Mass.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Sam Billy

BESH BI TOH — Funeral services for Sam Billy, 101 will be at 10 a.m. today, March 20 at the Bethel Navajo Baptist Church in Steamboat, Ariz. Leonard Pete will officiate. Burial will be at the Besh Bi Toh family plot.

He was born on October 15, 1904 in Besh Bi Toh. He was a rancher and homemaker.

Survivors include his daughers, Delores Brown of Steamboat, Louise Logg of Greasewood, Ariz., Laverne Goldtooth of Teestoh, Ariz., and Ella Billie of Albuquerque, NM; brothers, John Billy of Besh Bi Toh, Ariz., Henry Billie of Crownpoint and Dennis Billy of Albuquerque; 38 grandchildren; 95 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren.

Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie Billy; daughter, Sarah Billy; son, Howard Billy Sr.

Pallbearers will be Willander Charley, Daniel Nelson, Patrick Logg, Jonathan Logg, Luther Brown and Lexy Billy.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Steamboat Chapter House following funeral services.

Paul James

SANDERS — Funeral services are pending for Paul James, 82.

James died on March 18 in Gallup. He was born on May 10, 1923 in Sanders, AZ.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
