GALLUP Gallup police released photographs of the
suspects wanted in connection with the robbery of a local convenience
store last weekend.
Detective Erin Toadlena-Pablo, a spokeswoman for the Gallup Police Department,
said the photographs are footage from a surveillance camera that captured
the robbery on tape at about 6:15 a.m. on Sunday.
Anyone who recognizes the suspects or their clothing, is asked to call
CrimeStoppers at 722-6161. The organization is offering a reward of up
to $1,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest
and conviction of a suspect.
Police were dispatched to the Alsup's store, 112 Arnold St., after the
two Hispanic men, who wore bandannas to disguise their faces, fled the
location with handfuls of cigarette lighters.
The pair left the store, after demanding cash from the register, when
a second store clerk walked into the cash register area while talking
on a cell phone.
Toadlena-Pablo said the men likely thought the employee was speaking to
police.
At least one man was armed, police say.
