Alice Smiley
TSE BONITO Funeral services for Alice Yazzie Smiley, 80, will
be 10 a.m., with a viewing at 9 a.m., on Friday, Jan. 27 at the St.
Michaels Catholic Mission, St. Michaels.
Smiley died Jan. 21 in Fort Defiance. She was born March 15, 1925 in
Tse Bonito into the One Who Walks Around People Clan for the Salt People
Clan.
Smiley attended Fort Defiance Boarding School and St. Michaels Catholic
School. She was employed with the Navajo Tribe in facility management
and the old 7-11 laundromat. She retired in 1998 from the Navajo Tribe
following 25 years. Smiley was a member of the St. Michaels Chapter
and enjoyed rug weaving, sheepherding, and being with friends and family.
Survivors include her sons, Jerry Antone of St. Michaels, Lawrence Smiley
of Santa Monica, Calif., Jasper Smiley of Window Rock; daughters, Pearlie
Perry, Olivia Thomas, both of Window Rock, Bennita Pea of Albuquerque;
20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Lanbert Perry, Melvin Brown, Henry Brown, Delbert
Bia, Victor Pea, and Edwin James.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the St. Michaels Chapter
House.
Larry Cadman
GALLUP Funeral services for Larry Cadman, 48, will be 11 a.m.
on Friday, Jan. 27 at Cope Memorial Chapel. Ernest Largo will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Thoreau community cemetery.
Cadman died Jan. 16 in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 15, 1957 in Los Angeles.
Cadman was an artist, who enjoyed music and life.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Cadman of Gallup; sister, Linda Cadman
of Las Vegas, Nev.
Cadman was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Cadman; and brother,
J.R. Cadman.
Pallbearers will be family members.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Elsie Tsosie
WHIPPOORWILL, Ariz. Funeral services for Elsie Harvey Tsosie,
73, will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Lords Church, Whippoorwill.
Interment will be on a family plot.
Tsosie died Jan. 23 in Phoenix, Ariz. She was born Dec. 13, 1932 in
Whippoorwill into the Towering House People Clan for the Bitter Water
People Clan. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her sons, Leonard Tsosie, Earl Tsosie, Raymond Tsosie,
Leslie Tsosie, Eddie Tsosie; brothers, Jimmy Yazzie, Tom Harvey; sisters,
Julia Tsosie, Helene Begay; 19 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
Tsosie was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Ann Joe.
Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
