Marylou Mares

GAMERCO — Funeral Mass for Marylou Mares, 44, will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Gallup. Father Lalo will officiate. Burial will be at the Gallup City Cemetery. Visitation will be noon to 5 p.m. today, Feb. 21, at Rollie Mortuary Palm Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. this evening, Feb. 21, at the St. Francis Assisi Catholic Church.

Mares died on Feb. 18 in Gallup. She was born on May 19, 1961, in Gallup.

Mares attended school in Gallup and graduated in 1981. She was employed with McKinley County at the time of her death. Her hobbies included cooking, cleaning, fishing, and watching football. She was an avid Cowboys fan.

Survivors include her husband, Dino Mares of Gamerco; mother, Frances Escamilla of Albuquerque; step-daughters, Alicia and Amber Mares of Binger, Okla.; step-son, Anthony Mares of El Reno, Okla.; brothers, Abel Escamilla, Johnny Escamilla, Ralph Escamilla of Albuquerque, Andrew Escamilla and Ronald Escamilla both of Gallup, Paul Escamilla Jr. of Huntington Beach, Calif.; sister, Lorraine Escamilla of Albuquerque.

Mares was preceded in death by her father, Paul Escamilla; grandfather, Procopio Escamilla; grandmother, Flora Soto.

Pallbearers will be Michael Chavez, Frankie Escamilla, Joe Lujan, Pat Lujan, Phillip Mares, and Anthony Sanchez.


Carole Ann Dan

KIRKLAND — Funeral services for Carole Ann Dan, 64, will be 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at the First Baptist Church in Thoreau, NM. Dr. Paul Large of Columbus, Ohio, will officiate. Burial will be at the Thoreau Cemetery. Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, Feb. 21, at the Cope Memorial Chapel in Farmington.

Dan died on Feb. 16 at the Cedar Ridge Inn. She was born on Oct. 14, 1942 in Rehoboth into the Two Went To Get Water Clan for the Bitter Water With Tree Clan. Dan was a 1965 graduate of Chinle High School. She then worked with the Farmington Municipal Schools in the Special Education Department for 12 years. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts. She volunteered much of her time to church activities.

Survivors include her sons, Gregory H. Hall and Ronald M. Dan; daughter Marlinda M. Dan; and seven grandchildren; mother Bessie A. Largo; sisters Teresa M. Hoskins and Augilina R. Large.

She was preceded in death by her husband Larry C. Dan; father, Jimmie B. Largo; grandparents, Allen Neskahi, Sr. and Emma Neskahi.

Pallbearers will be Gregory J. Hall, Edward Lee Hoskins, Ronald M. Dan, Floyd B. Largo, Karl Trujillo, Alvin Largo.

Cope Memorial Chapel, 404 West Arrington, Farmington, NM is in charge of arrangements.


Priscilla Torrez

GRANTS — Funeral services for Priscilla Torrez, 72, will be at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 22, at the Potter's House Christian Church in Grants. Pastor Larry Teshima will officiate. Burial will be at the Grants Memorial Parl. Visitation will be 10:30-11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 22, at the Potter's House Christian Church in Grants.

Torrez died on Feb. 19 in Grants, N.M. She was born on March 18, 1933, in Seboyeta, N.M. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of the Potter's House Christian Church in Grants. Torrez was a homemaker, dedicated to her family, and a strong believer.

Survivors include her husband, Gregorio Torrez of Grants; daughters, Karen Sedillo of Rio Rancho, Janelle Saavedra of Amarillo, Texas, and Helene Farley of Grants; son, Richard Torrez of Albuquerque; sister, Nancy Santillanes of Albuquerque; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Torrez was preceded in death by her parents Ricardo Romero and Josephine Molina Romero; sister, Jennie Anzures.

Pallbearers will be Andres Sedillo, Anthony Saavedra, Aaron Saavedra, Adam Saavedra, Kevin Farley, and Adrian Farley.

Immediately following the graveside services the family will receive relatives and friends at the Potter's House of Grants.

Grants Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Lawrence Eugene Notah

ST. MICHAELS — Funeral services for Lawrence Eugene Notah, 52, will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 22, at the St. Michaels Mission. Father Gilbert Schneider will officiate. Burial will be at the St. Michaels community cemetery.

Notah died on Feb. 16 in Gallup. He was born on Nov. 21, 1952, in Oklahoma City into the Oklahoma People Clan for the Red Streak Running Into the Water People Clan. He attended grade school in Oceanside, Calif., Yuma, Ariz., and Antler, Okla. He completed and graduated from Oceanside High School and San Diego State University. He worked in grocery retail. He lettered in football, wrestling, and baseball. His hobbies were playing sports.

Survivors include his sons, Lance Notah, Laurence Notah, and Lanceson Notah all of St. Michaels; daughter, Rosemarie Notah of St. Michaels; brothers, Paul Notah and Gerald Notah both of St. Michaels, and Louis Notah of Scottsdale, Ariz.

Notah was preceded in death by his parents, Francis C. and Rhoda M. Notah of St. Michaels; grandparents, Tay and Mary Notah of St. Michaels.

Pallbearers will be Vernon Finley, Foy Finley, Jr., Marshall Finley, Darrell Burns, Edward Notah, and Raynard Etticity.

Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Esther Yazzie

REHOBOTH — Funeral services are pending for Esther Yazzie, 92.

Yazzie died on Feb. 20 in Gallup. She was born Dec. 17, 1913.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
