Marie Yazzie

WIDE RUINS, Ariz. — Funeral services for Marie Yazzie, 98 will be today, Feb. 6 at 10 a.m. at the Klagetoh Catholic Church. Brother John Hotstream will officiate. Burial will be at the Wide Ruins Community Cemetery.

Yazzie died on Feb. 1 in Show Low. She was born November 27, 1907 in Wide Ruins for the Redhouse People Clan into the Towering House Clan. She attended the St. Micheal's Catholic School and worked as a head cook for the Wide Ruins Boarding School.

Survivors include her daughter Elizabeth Tabaha of Wide Ruins; brother Marion Yazzie; four grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 17 great-great grandchildren.

Yazzie was proceded in death by her parents Hosteen and Bah Yellowhorse Yazzie; sisters, Alice Y. Lee and Mary H. Yazzie; brothers, Frank Yazzie Sr. and Jim Yazzie.

Pallbearers will be Derwin Joe, Marwin Joe, Les Tabaha, Austin Lee Jr., Arthur Lee, and Gregory Yazzie.

The family will meet at the Wide Ruins Chapter House after the funeral services today.

Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
