GALLUP — It's time to help the puppies and kittens.

Gallup's premiere event, the Bow-Meow Dinner and Dance, which is the Gallup-McKinley County Humane Society's largest fund raiser of the year, is selling tickets for their Spring Fling, Saturday, March 18 at Red Rock State Park.

The event features dinner at 7 p.m. , a no-host bar, and music by Ralph Dinosaur and the Volcanoes, which is one of the Four Corner's most popular bands from 8-12 p.m.. They rocked the house last year, playing rock n' roll, country and Spanish music and got everybody on the dance floor.

Ticket sales are different this year. $25 includes dinner and the dance. $50 includes a chance at the $10,000 Grand Prize Reverse Drawing with a second prize of $500 and a third prize of $250. A $500 donation includes seating, dinner and dance for 10 adults, one raffle ticket and one drink ticket per person with special business table decoration. A $1,000 donation includes dinner, dance for 18 people, two raffle tickets, one drink ticket per person and table decoration.

All proceeds benefit the Gallup McKinley County Humane Society, which needs extra money, since it transports the enormous number of stray puppies they receive every month to locations in Colorado, where they are certain to be adopted. This cuts down on the number of animals needing to be euthanized at the Humane Society every week.

Tickets (and they sell out fast) can be purchased at the Humane Society on North Highway 491, the Cedar Animal Medical Center on North Highway 491, Dee Ann at Gallup Lumber on Second Street, Misty at the Hair Hut, 1654 South 2nd Street and George at the Hair Place, 211 E. Aztec in Gallup.

The Humane Society is also looking for volunteers to help at the event. For more information, contact the Humane Society at 863-2616.
