Police tape blocks the entrance to a home in the 3000 block of Box Canyon Road Thursday morning. Gallup Police were called house around 10 a.m. by a 17-year-old who said he had been shot. The teenager was transported to Rehoboth McKinley Christian Hospital. His injuries were not considered life-threatening. The shooting remains under investigation. [Photo by John A. Long Ride: Jeremiah Kartsens rides into Gallup leading six horses Thursday afternoon, after following U.S. 491 south from Farmington. Karstens left his hometown of Palmer, Alaska, on June 23, 2004, planning to ride as far as the Canadian border. Once he reached the border he decided to keep riding, and has been making his way south since. Karstens stops along the way to work on ranches and help with horses until he has earned anough money to continue. His current destination is Columbus, N.M., near Silver City.
