Mary Burbank

CHINLE — Services for Mary Mae Burbank, 86, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 23 at Our Lady of Fatima in Chinle. Father Blane Grein will officiate. Burial will follow at Chinle Community Cemetery.

Burbank died Dec. 19 in Chinle. She was born May 20, 1920 in Black Mountain, Ariz., into the Red Bottom People Clan for the Red Running Into the Water People Clan.

Survivors include her sons, Anslem Burbank of Chinle, Daniel Burbank of Gallup, Ernest Burbank of Chinle, Mason Burbank of Tsaile, Nelson Burbank of Breadsprings, Olson Burbank of Salem, Ore., and Lester Yazzie of Chinle; daughters, Mabel Burbank of Pinetop, Ariz., Nina Burbank and Ellen Mellboy, both of Chinle; brothers, Jessie Etsitty of Chinle and Charley Kee Yazzie; sister, Helen Gorman of Chinle; 56 grandchildren, 97 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Burbank was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Burbank; her father, Klaw Tso Begay; her mother, Margaret Etsitty and her sister, Lena Y. Burbank.

Pallbearers will be family members.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
