Shotgun-packing youths rob store
By Natasha Kaye Johnson
Diné Bureau
DILCON The Mustang Gas Station in Dilcon was robbed late
Sunday, reportedly by two male juveniles.
According to officials, the surveillance video shows two masked
males storming into the store around 9:39 p.m. One pointed a double-barrel
shotgun at the female cashier, then demanded she fill a plastic
bag he gave her with cash from the register. The other suspect made
his way behind the front counter, and began waving a knife at a
male cashier. He then took cigarette and tobacco products.
The store manager witnessed the robbery on the video system in a
different area of the store, and called the police. Officials said
officers arrived five minutes after the suspects fled in a gray
sedan. Officials do not know how much money was taken.
After reviewing the video, a male juvenile suspect was taken into
custody on Monday, and was questioned by the FBI and Dilcon Criminal
Investigations.
"There's no charges right now," said Lt. Emerson Lee.
Lee said the juvenile in custody is from the Dilcon area, and believes
that the second suspect may also be local. Lee said officials will
rely on the surveillance evidence to help close the case.
"That's the prime evidence in the case right now," he
said.
