Toney James, Sr.
TOHATCHI Services for Toney James, Sr.,
86, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7 at the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-Day Saints at the Gallup Stake Center. Burial will be
private at the family land in Coyote Canyon.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
James died Dec. 3 in Tohatchi. He was born March 8, 1920 in Coyote
Canyon into the Meadow People Clan for the Red Running into the
Water's Edge People Clan.
James went to school in Charleco, Okla. He was drafted into the
military in 1942 and fought in WWII. He was caught in the Philippine
Islands where he walked the Battan Death March and was a prisoner
of war for three years and eight months. He retired after 22 years
of service from the Air Force and became a rancher and farmer.
Survivors include sons, Toney James, Jr. of Tohatchi, Art Allison
of Farmington, Harrison Allison of Pleasant View, Utah. and Mike
Allison of Mapleton, Utah.; daughters, Dee Silver of Tohatchi,
Casey Keams of Springville, Utah. and Brenda Beyal of Mapleton,
Utah.; sister, Rose Barton of Coyote Canyon, N.M.; 21 grandchildren
and 19 great-grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by brothers, Benjamin James and Mike
James; parents, Peter Ward James and Ruth Hannaba James; sisters,
Marie James and Blossom James.
Pallbearers will be Tohachi Veterans Organization District #14.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Porfirio Baldonado
GALLUP Mass for Porfirio Baldonado, 85,
will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8 at St. Francis Catholic Church.
Father Gerry Steinmetz, OFM, will officiate. Burial will follow
at Sunset Memorial Park in Gallup.
A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at St. Francis Catholic
Church.
Baldonado died Dec. 4 in Grants. He was born Aug. 26, 1921 in
Placitas, N.M.
Survivors include son, Ray Baldonado of Gallup and three grandchildren.
Baldonado was preceded in death by father, Solome Baldonado and
mother, Ocaris Baldonado.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Alvarez, Tony Apadaca, Morris Landavazo,
Rony Landavazo, Dave Madrid and John Paredes.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Marcelino Jaramillo
GRANTS Funeral Mass for Marcelino Marlin
Jaramillo, 66, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7 at Saint Teresa
de Avila Catholic Church in Grants. Father Alberto Avella will
officiate. Veterans and graveside services will be at San Rafael
Cemetery. Veterans graveside services will be provided by Grants
VFM Post #3221 Honorguard.
Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today, Dec. 6 at Grants Mortuary.
The Holy rosary meditation service will be 7 p.m. today, Dec.
6 at Saint Teresa de Avila Catholic Church.
Jaramillo died Dec. 3 in Albuquerque. He was born April 26, 1940
in San Rafael.
Jaramillo a member of St. Teresa de Avila Catholic Church and
resident of the area. He served in the U.S. Air Force and worked
in the uranium industry at Homestake Mill for 38 years. He was
a storyteller and enjoyed going to casinos. He enjoyed spending
time with family and friends.
Survivors include wife, Yvette G. Jaramillo of Grants; sons, Matthew
Jaramillo of Milan and Mark Jaramillo of Grants; daughter, Natalie
Grine of Grants; brothers, Timmy Jaramillo of Milan and Corry
Jaramillo of San Rafael; sisters, Domie Chavez of San Rafael and
Geraldine Chavez of Grants; 12 grandchildren and many nieces and
nephews.
Jaramillo was preceded in death by parents, Patroncino and Tomasita
Garcia-Jaramillo and sister, Jenny Montano.
Pallbearers will be Timmy Jaramillo, Corry Jaramillo, Michael
Chavez, Mario Chavez, Jerry Pryor and Orlando Archunde.
Arline Vickers
GRANTS Memorial services for Arline Vickers,
89, will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8 at the First Presbyterian Church,
400 Nimitz Drive in Grants.
Reverend Nancy Deever and Reverend Bob Clary will officiate.
Vickers died Dec. 2 in Grants.
Vickers was a generous person and helped those around her. She
made dolls for babies born to families in the First Presbyterian
Church congregation in Grants.
Survivors include son, Todd Vickers of Denver, Colo.; daughter,
Layne Vickers-Smith of Santa Fe; one grandson; many nieces and
nephews.
Vickers was preceded in death by husband, Arthur David Vickers;
an infant son; parents, Lenora and Ira Anderson and sister, Mildred
Campbell-Furnall.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be made to Habitat for Humanity,
or the First Presbyterian Church in Grants.
Bahe Joe
ALLENTOWN, N.M. Services for Bahe F.
Joe, 73, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7 at Cope Memorial Chapel
in Gallup. Pastor Alfred Watchman will officiate. Burial will
be at the familyland in Allentown.
Joe died Dec. 1 in Gallup. He was born July 1, 1933 in Box Canyon,
N.M. into the Sleeping Rock People Clan for the One Who Walks
Around People Clan.
Joe was employed with Santa Fe railroad and Navajo Forest Industries.
He retired from NFPI and was awarded for 32 years of employment.
His hobbies include playing musical instruments.
Survivors include Marie N. Joe; sons, Norman Begaye of Showlow,
Leslie Joe and Irvin Joe both of Allentown; daughters, Ruby Begaye
of Lupton, Sylvia Whitman of Mesa, Angela Bouslaugh of Allentown
and Andrea Thompson of Gallup; mother, Ye-he-bah Thompson of Box
Canyon, N.M.; brother Howard Francis of Box Canyon; 17 grandchildren
and nine great-grandchildren.
Joe was preceded in death by father, Sam Joe Frances; brothers,
Carl F. Joe, Bert Frances and Steven Frances; sister, Marie Etsitty.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Moses, Anthony Moses, Adam Moses, Chancellor
Thompson, Leonard Thompson and Woodrow Whitman.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Allentown
Community Church after services.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Fern Nations
GALLUP Services for Fern J. Nations,
53, will be announced at a later date.
Nations died Dec. 4 in Gallup. She was born Feb. 16, 1953 in Wallace,
ID.
