Robert Emerson Sr.

GALLUP — Services for Robert Ken Emerson Sr., 42, will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 3 at Cope Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Gallup City Cemetery.

Emerson Sr. attended Chuska Boarding School. His hobbies included pottery, silversmithing, playing cards, T.V. and movies.

Survivors include his sons, Robert Emerson Jr. of Albuquerque, Robert Nelson Emerson Jr., of Rock Springs, and Robby Emerson of Springstead; daughters, Robin Lynn Emerson and Sophia Ann Emerson, both of Springstead; brother, Larry Emerson of Newcomb; sisters, Mary Emerson of Gallup, Cora Emerson of Pinedale; and Susie Emerson Shepard of China Springs; grandmother, Mary A. Begay; and two grandchildren.

Emerson Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Susie Emerson; and brother, Frank K. Emerson.

Pallbearers will be Robert Emerson Jr., Robby Emerson, Shawn Bill, Preston Bill, Nicholas Bill and Janell Stevens.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.


Genevieve Gonzales

ALBUQUERQUE — Services for Genevieve "Johnny" Gonzales, 93, will be 9 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 3 at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Albuquerque. Burial will follow at San Jose de Armijo, Albuquerque.

A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m., tonight, Aug. 2, at St. Anne's Catholic Church.

Gonzales died July 31 in Albuquerque. She was born Nov. 23, 1912 in Valencia.

Gonzales attended Zuni Day School. She was employed with Schwartzman's Meat Packing Plant and was a member of the St. Anne's Catholic Church. She was a watercolor artist and her hobbies included playing the accordian and harmonica.


Rosita McCreary

MESA, Ariz. — Rosita McCreary died July 25 in Mesa. She was born June 25, 1946 in Crownpoint into the Water Edge People Clan for the Mud People Clan.

Survivors include sons, Samuel McCreary, stationed in Iraq and Kenneth McCreary of Falls Church, Va.; daughter, Sondra Lee Benitez of Norfolk, Va.; brother, Richard Hayes; and three grandchildren.

McCreary was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Tony Hayes; grandparents, Elsie and Ned Morga; and husband, Clinton Dale McCreary.


Marian Yazzie

CHINLE, Ariz. — Services for Marian Rita Yazzie, 70, will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 3 at Seventh Day Adventist, Chinle. Dennis Billy will officiate. Burial will follow at family land, Chinle.

Yazzie died July 30 in Chinle. She was born July 6, 1936 in Black Mountain, Ariz. into the Near the Water People Clan for the Red Running ino the Water People Clan.

Yazzie was a homemaker and rancher.

Survivors include her sons, Jimmy Klade; daughter, Matilda Klade-Begay; brothers, Wilson Yazzie and Johnny T. Yazzie; sister, Roseanne Johnson; and ten grandchildren.

Yazzie was preceded in death by her parents, Elthnahabah and Tachine Yazzie; brothers, David Yazzie, Kee Yazzie; sisters, Sybil Baldwin, Elouise Towne, Etta Bahe and Nahglenishinibah Yazzie.

Gene Jerry Jones

MONTEZUMA CREEK, Utah — Graveside services for Gene J. Jones, 61, will be 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 4 at family cemetery, Montezuma Creek.

Jones died July 29 in Salt Lake City. He was born Feb. 28, 1945 in Montezuma Creek.


Alberto L. Olvera

GALLUP — Services for Alberto L. Olvera, 87, will be announced at a later date.

Olvera died July 30 in Albuquerque. She was born Aug. 8, 1918 in Gibson.

Visitation will be 3-4:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 3 at Rollie Mortuary.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


James J. Dow

GALLUP — Services for James J. Dow, 96, will be announced at a later date.

Dow died Aug. 1 in Gallup. He was born May 15, 1910 in Bingham Canyon, Utah.

A rosary will be recited at 6:30-7:30 p.m., tonight, Aug. 2, at Rollie Mortuary.

Dennis Keith Sr.

SANOSTEE — Services for Dennis Keith Sr., 69, will be announced at a later date.

Keith died July 31 in Ganado, Ariz. He was born April 15, 1937 in Sanostee into the Coyote Pass People Clan for the Jemez Pueblo Clan.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Nellie Johnston

THOREAU — Services for Nellie Johnston, 96, will be announced at a later date. Johnston died Aug. 1 in Grants. She was born Nov. 11, 1909 in Randlett, Okla.

Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
