Nelson Begay
CHINLE Funeral services for Nelson Begay, 45 will be 10 a.m.
Saturday, April 22, at the Presbyterian Church in Chinle, Ariz. Burial
will be at the Community Cemetery in Chinle.
Begay died April 18. He was born on Sept. 15, 1951, in Ganado into the
Bitterwater People Clan for the Red Running into the Water Clan.
Begay was a Wingate High School graduate who enjoyed horseback riding
and was known for helping relatives on a daily basis.
Survivors include his brother, Elliot Brown; sisters, Alice Mitchell
and Patsy Halwood both of Chinle and Aurelia Charles of Phoenix.
Begay was preceded in death by his parents Charley H. and Louise Chee
Begay; brothers Alfred T. Begay and Eddie Lee.
Pallbearers will be Curt Mitchell, Brett Kyle Charles, Justin Dalton,
Doug Brown Jr., and Carlton Mitchell.
Family will receive relatives at Presbyterian Church Fellowship room
at 6 p.m.
Geraldine C. Murphy
GALLUP Mass services for Geraldine C. Murphy will be 10 a.m.
Saturday April 22. Father Mike Vigil will officiate. Interment will
follow at the Sunset Memorial Park in Gallup.
Murphy born Oct. 8, 1934 in Gallup. She died in Gallup April 17.
Murphy graduated from Cathedral High School and received a BA in art
from Marymount College, Salina, Kan,. with a M.S. and Eds. degree in
counseling and guidances from Kansas State University. She worked as
an art teacher, a high school counselor and as a mental health counselor.
Her hobbies included art, and scrapbooking.
Pallbearers will be Mary Kaye Blichenderfer; Barbara Dawes; Justin Murphy;
Mitch Murphy; Bill Petranovich Jr. and Tom Tomljanovich.
Survivors include sisters, Mary Kaye Blichenderfer of Ranchos De Taos,
N.M., Frances Coody of Edmond, Okla., Barbara Dawes of Manhattan, Kan.,
Peggy Murphy of Elephant Butte, N.M., Dorothy Spezze of Leawiood, Kan.,
Pat Tomljanovich of El Paso, Texas; and brother, Larry Murphy of Page,
Ariz.
Murphy was preceded in death by her parents James E. and Clara Murphy;
and brothers Billy Murphy and James Murphy.
Rollie mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Ed Oppenhuizen
REHOBOTH Funeral services for Ed "Mr. O" Oppenhuizen,
will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 23, at Rehoboth Christian Reformed Church
at Rehoboth Mission.
Oppenhuizen was born June 13, 1932. He died April 17. He served as Business
Manager at Rehoboth Mission in Gallup for 18 years.
Ed worked with Frontiers Ministries since 2002 after returning from
four years of ministry in Kazakstan, Central Asia. His focus at Frontiers
was encouraging business outreach internationally. His heart was touching
people for Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Oppenhuizen, and children, Joshua
(George) Oppenhuizen, Kristin Fairey, Marc Oppenhuizen, Victoria (Wanda)
Oppenhuizen Johnson, Jack Oppenhuizen, Joan Andres;18 grandchildren
and two great-grandchildren.
Joan J. Geisel
GALLUP Funeral services for Joan J. Geisel, 92, will be at Holy
Hope Cemetery in Tucson, Ariz.
Geisel was born Oct. 6, 1913 in Massachusetts. She died April 16 in
Gallup.
Survivors include her daughter, Joan Finley, of Tucson, Ariz.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Mark F. Rangel
GALLUP Funeral arrangements are pending for Mark F. Rangel,
41, of Gallup.
Rangel was born Feb. 26, 1965 in Gallup. He died April in Gallup.
