Mexican dance company performs at GHS auditorium

GALLUP Ballet Folklorico Quetzalli will be bringing
music and dance from Mexico to Gallup this week.
The Mexican dance company will be performing at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday,
April 19 at the Gallup High School auditorium. The performance is part
of the 2005-2006 Concert Series of the Gallup Community Concert Association.
Established in 1985, Ballet Folklorico Quetzalli has entertained audiences
around the world. Now under the direction of veteran dancer Hugo Betancourt,
the dance company has grown to be one of the most popular folklorico companies
touring out of Mexico.
Ballet Folklorico Quetzalli is composed of young people who love the traditions
of the Mexican people as expressed through music, songs, and dances. Their
performances provide a spectacular and colorful expression of authentic
folklore of Mexico.
Season tickets for the concert series will be available for sale at the
door. The final concert performance of the season will be Marcoux Corner,
a high energy a cappella male quartet, which will perform on Tuesday,
May 9.
