Dora Miles

FORT DEFIANCE — Funeral services for Dora B. Miles, 93, will be 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament. Gilbert Schneider, OFM, will officiate. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. on Monday, April 17, at Tse Bonito Mortuary. Burial will be in Fort Defiance.

Miles died April 13 in Phoenix. She was born August 8, 1912 in Fort Defiance into the Big Water People Clan for the Salt People Clan.

Miles attended school at the Fort Defiance BIA school and the Charles H. Bert School. She was employed as a cook at the following: Canteen Cafe, B.I.A. boarding schools in Crownpoint, Chichiltah. Miles retired after working with the government and private agencies. She enjoyed life in Fort Defiance.

Survivors include sons, Jackie Miles, Julius Miles, Sr., Jerry Miles, James Miles Sr., and J. Earl Miles; daughters, Rosemarie Miles, Fannie Vann, Doris Shaw and Darlene Miles; 33 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.

Miles was preceded in death by her husband, General Miles, parents, Henry and Martha Belone; son, Joseph Miles Sr.; brothers, Wilbert Belone, Mark Belone, Stephen Belone Sr., Leon Anderson; sisters, Alice Watch, Marie Benally, Isabel Dalton, Desbah Belone.

After the burial, the family will receive relatives and friends at the Fort Defiance Chapter House. The family will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in Rabbitbrush.

Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Ramon Guerrero

GAMERCO — Funeral services for Ramon Rosales Guerrero, 49, will be Tuesday, April 18 at 9 a.m. at Joshua Generation. Burial will follow. Jesse Rincon will officiate. Prayer service will be 7 p.m., tonight, Monday, April 17 at the Joshua Generation for Jesus.

Guerrero died Friday, April 14 in Gallup. He was born Nov. 25, 1956, in Torreon/Coahuila, Mexico.

Guerrero was employed by Shop'N Save in the Bakery Dept. He also worked for Glen's Pastries for many years. He enjoyed decorating cakes, baking and spending time with this grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Julieta Guerrero of Gamerco; mother and father, Ramon Guerrero Martinez Sr., and Ernestina Guerrero of Gallup; sons, Adrian Guerrero of Phoenix, Juan Guerrero, Ramon Guerrero, Jr., all of Gallup; daughters, Brenda Lucero Guerrero of Gallup, Leslie Ann Guerrero, Rocio Guerrero, both of Gamerco; brother, Gerardo Guerrero of Gallup; sisters, Monica Hernandez, Dolores Rendon both of Gallup, Teresa Nevarez, Margarita Sifuentes both of El Paso, Texas, Irma Noriega, Elsa Sapiens, both of Denver, Colo., Patty Rincon of Santa Fe, Ernestina Guardado, Denver, Lydia Rodriguez of Juarez, Mexico; ten grandchildren.

Guerrero was preceded in death by sister, Sofia Rivera.

Pallbearers will be Jesus Alarcon, Adrian Guerrero, Juan Guerrero, Ramon Guerrero, Jr., Mauricio Moreno-Barron and Victor Sifuentes.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
