Trustees to hear about consolidating police, fire dispatching
By Jim Maniaci
Cibola County Bureau
MILAN Consolidating the many separate emergency departments'
dispatching services will be one of the topics the Board of Trustees will
hear at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Village Hall meeting room.
Citizens are invited to the meeting and to speak briefly to the trustees;
however, the board cannot take action on a specific matter from a citizen
unless it already is on the agenda for action.
The Cibola Regional Communications Center Committee will make the presentation
about combining the village's police and fire radio services with those
of the city of Grants and the county of Cibola, similar to what the city
of Gallup and county of McKinley have done for many years with their police,
fire, sheriff's and ambulance departments and companies.
Only a few action items are on the agenda, including a cash transfer from
the general fund to the street fund. Old business carried over from the
last month's meeting includes amending the traffic ordinance to include
the latest changes from the New Mexico Legislature and reviewing bids
for the swimming pool improvements.
Local attorney Bruce Boynton also will discuss the agenda does not list
any action about extending a water line into Valle Verde Estates.
A presentation is scheduled by Edward L. Smith Sr., candidate for State
Representative District 5.
In addition to awarding the employee of the month, trustees will be asked
to accept the minutes of Aug. 25, the cash disbursements for August, the
municipal court cash journal for August, and to hear Interim Manager Carlos
Montoya's report, then trustees will give their comments.
Although an executive session is listed, no particular items are listed.
