David Martinez
BREAD SPRINGS Funeral services for David Martinez, 75, were
at 10 a.m. today, Oct. 11, at Cope Memorial Chapel. Pastor Jake Yazzie,
Sr. officiated. Burial followed in the Gallup City Cemetery.
Martinez died Oct. 4 in Gallup. He was born May 10, 1930 in Gallup into
the Red House People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.
Martinez worked in Idaho, Phoenix and San Jon, N.M. as a farmer. He
was a mechanic, bus driver for Bread Springs head start, and worked
for social services. Martinez enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing and
going to pueblo feasts.
Survivors include his wife, Isabelle Martinez; sons, Wilfred Belone
of Cedar City, Utah, Felix Pinto of Naschitti; daughter, Felena Pinto
of Bread Springs; sister, Alice Begay of Bread Springs; and eight grandchildren.
Martinez was preceded in death by his parents, Nina and Dan Martinez;
brothers, John Martinez, Myles Martinez, Tom Martinez, Wilford Martinez,
Charles Martinez; sisters, Effie Nelson, Effie Lee, Johanna Martinez,
Susie Yazzie and Ruth Pat.
Pallbearers will be Robert Begay, Jameson Bennett, Bobby Pinto, Brian
Lee, Richard Pinto and Regis Benally.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Bread Springs Chapter.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Rev. George L. Brittain
GRANTS Funeral services for Rev. George L. Brittain will be
at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13 at the First Baptist Church, Grants.
Dr. David Brittain, Rev. Lonnie Jordan, Rev. Hugh Rogers, Rev. Milford
Misener will officiate. Burial will follow in the Grants Memorial Park.
Visitation and viewing will be from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Central Baptist
Church, 701 Sage Ave., Grants.
Rev. Brittain died Oct. 9.
Rev. Brittain was retired from Central Baptist Church and was Pastor
Emeritus at the First Baptist Church of Grants. He became pastor of
the First Baptist Church in 1954. In his younger years he would travel
the United States riding freight trains, having being orphaned at the
age of five. He married in 1938. He served in the US Army during WWII
and following his discharge, moved to Albuquerque.
Survivors include his wife, Flois; sons, Larry Brittain of Artesia,
Bob Brittain of Thoreau; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren
and 19 great grandchildren.

Tenn.
Sgt. Alan Westbrook
FAMINGTON Funeral services for Sgt. Alan Westbrook, 43, will
be Wednesday, October 12 at 11 a.m. at the Farmington Civic Center.
The internment will follow at the Green Lawn Cemetery.
A reception will follow at the Farmington Civic Center.
Sgt, Alan Westbrook of Farmington died in Baghdad, Iraq on October 1.
He was born July 25, 1962 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
Alan was a long-time employee of PNM. He loved hunting, fishing, camping,
reading and farming with his grandmother and father. Survivors include
his wife, Joleen Marie Westbrook; daughters, Marcia Lynn Westbrook,
Nicole Elizabeth Marie Westbrook; sons, Sgt. Ryan Alan Westbrook, Anthony
Jacob Westbrook, Chadrick Marshall Westbrook; father and mother, Marshall
and Ruth Westbrook of Shiprock; brothers, David Westbrook, Richard Westbrook,
SFC Kenneth Westbrook; sister Sandra Ray.
Sgt. Westbrook is preceded in death by his Grandmother Evelyn Kitty
and two children.
A reception will follow at the Farmington Civic Center.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

COYOTE CANYON Funeral services are pending for Tom H. Barton,
84.
Barton died Oct. 9 in Gallup. He was born Jan. 15, 1921 in Tohatchi
into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Katharine S. Lewis
RAMAH Funeral services for Katharine S. Lewis, 48, are pending.
Lewis died Oct. 9 in Albuquerque. She was born Aug. 27, 1957.
