Ernest Charley
PINEDALE Funeral services for Ernest Charley, 77, will be at
10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at Rollie Mortuary Palm Chapel. Pastor Darrellson
J. Begay will officiate. Burial will follow in Pinedale.
Charley died Sept. 27 in Gallup. He was born May 28, 1928 in Pinedale
into the Mountain Cove People Clan for the Zuni People Clan.
Survivors include his sons, Edison Charley of Ganado, Nelson Charley
of Pinedale; daughters, Esther Charley of Ganado, Marie Charley of Church
Rock, Marylena Charley, Maureen Charley both of Gallup, Louise Jackson
of Pinedale; 21 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
Charley was preceded in death by his wife, Velma E. Charley; father,
Dan Charley; mother, Mary Charley; daughter, Lucy Charley; brothers,
Paul Charley, Willie Charley, Dan Yazzie and sister, Annie C. Largo.
Pallbearers will be Leo Cayadietto, Steven Charley, Jonas Delgarito,
Frederick James, Fraizer Kee, Jr. and Kennard Tsosie.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Josephine Schmaltz
GALLUP Graveside services for Josephine Plese Schmaltz, 84,
will be at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park.
Schmaltz died Sept. 28 in Albuquerque. She was born March 18, 1921 in
Gallup.
Schmaltz was past secretary of the Tri-Slavic Lodge. She was an active
board member of MASH. Schmaltz was also an active Girl Scout leader,
and the ARC.
Survivors include her son, Randy Schmaltz of Gallup; sister, Jennie
Yurkovich of Gallup; 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Schmaltz was preceded in death by her husband, George Schmaltz; father,
Matt Plese; mother, Margareta Plese; daughters, Denise Camp, Lori Schmaltz;
brothers, Joe Plese and Matt Plese.
Pallbearers will be Ray Macias, Jarod Schmaltz, Randy Schmaltz, Christopher
Schmaltz, Nathan Sowers and Rudy Yurkovich.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Ryan Wero
GALLUP Funeral services for Ryan John Wero, 20, will be at 10
a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at Cope Memorial. Rev. Johnson Begay will
officiate. Burial will follow in the Gallup City Cemetery.
Wero died Sept. 28 in Gallup. He was born July 19, 1985 in Gallup into
the Mountain Cove People Clan for the Salt People Clan.
Wero graduated from Gallup High School. He was employed with Taco Bell
and enjoyed cruising, playing video games, watching videos, listening
to music and being with family and friends.
Survivors include his mother, Elsie Wero of Gallup; brother, Ronald
Jameson of Gallup; sister, Vivian McBride of Grants and grandmother,
Nellie Wero.
Wero was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Wero.
Pallbearers will be Devon McBride, Brandon McBride, Robert Chee, James
Spencer, Rynell Tayah and Sheldon Morris.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Dean Gishey Jr.
BREAD SPRINGS Funeral services for Dean Gishey Jr., 54, will
be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at Our Lady of Blessed Sacrament,
Fort Defiance. Burial will follow in the Fort Defiance Veteran Cemetery.
Gishey died Oct. 1 in Gallup. He was born July 18, 1951 in Ganado into
the Coyote Pass People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.
Gishey Jr. worked as a drafter for ONEO, clay mine in Sanders, Railroad
and was a heavy equipment operator. He attended UNM-Gallup, heavy equipment
school in Phoenix, Ariz. and drafting school in Denver, Colo. Gishey
Jr. enjoyed singing with his band, playing the guitar and reading.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice S. Gishey of Bread Springs; son,
Bertrem D. Gishey of Bread Springs; sisters, Loretta J. Bird of Newton,
N.D., Delores A. Gishey, Cynthia K. Yazzie both of Sanders, Charlene
K. Gishey of Phoenix, Ariz.
Gishey Jr. was preceded in death by his father, Dean Gishey Sr.
Pallbearers will be Bertrem Gishey, Mario Gishey, Maurice Yazzie, Dewayne
Yazzie, Terrance Johnson and Timothy Baldwin.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Our Lady of Blessed
Sacrament, fellowship hall.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
John Silver
WIDE RUINS Funeral services for John Silver, 93, will be at
9 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at St. Anne's Catholic Mission, Klagetoh.
Brother Paul will officiate. Burial will follow in the Wide Ruins community
cemetery.
Silver died Sept. 30 in Gallup. He was born Feb. 15, 1912 in Houck into
the Coyote Pass People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.
Survivors include his daughters, Elizabeth Jim, Celina Largo, Lorraine
Largo all of Houck, Suzie Jim of Sanders, Louis Sam of Holbrook; sons,
Albert Silver, Harry Silver, both of Wide Ruins, Jonah Silver of Colo.,
Ray Silver of Calif.; 31 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and six
great-great grandchildren.
Silver was preceded in death by his father, Police Billy; mother; sons,
Robert Silver; daughters, Alice Tulley-Yazzie.
Pallbearers will be Elroy George, Leroy George, Malcolm George, Irvin
Jim, Sr., Albert Silver and Harry Silver.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Wallace H. Yazzie
PREWITT Funeral services for Wallace H. Yazzie, 60, are pending
and will be announced at a later date.
Yazzie died Oct. 2 in Grants. He was born Oct. 12, 1944 in Haystack
into the Salt People Clan for the Sleeping Rock People Clan.
