GRANTS — "New Mexico Winter Holidays" is the theme of the new Cibola Arts Council artists' multi-media show at the Double Six Gallery.

The show begins Tuesday and will feature art work by some of the 200 members of the arts council and anyone else who has submitted their art work, says Dorothy Ashe, gallery manager.

"We sent postcards to all our artists asking them to submit a piece of their work on the theme, 'New Mexico Winter Holidays,' whatever that means to them," she said.

A small artists' reception will be held Dec. 8, with coffee and cookie crumbles, Ashe said.

The reception will be from 5:30 -7 p.m., at the Double Six Gallery, 117 N. First St.

For those who are not members of the arts council, submitting artwork does not require a separate fee, Ashe says.

"The artist has to pay a $25 annual membership fee to be able to participate," she said.

That membership fee allows them to submit their art for the gallery's shows during the year.

"We are getting new artists all the time," she says.

The gallery has already received a number of pieces of art for the show and is expecting the final submissions to be in several areas, such as: Oils, acrylics, sculptures, sand paintings, wood carvings, photographs, water colors, pen and ink and pencil.

"We are hoping for at least 50 entries for the show," Ashe said. "But I don't know if we will receive that many."

The winter holiday show will last through the end of December, but no final date has yet been determined.

The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. To contact Ashe at the gallery, call (505) 287-7311.
