Walter Freas

MILAN — Memorial services for Walter "Jack" Freas, 88, will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17 at the Central Baptist Church. Rev. Bob Brittain will officiate. Masonic services will be included as well as Veteran's services provided by the VFW Post #3221.

Freas died Nov. 11 in Milan. He was born July 21, 1917 in Mount Vernon, Ohio.

Freas moved to the area in 1930. He served in the US Navy during WWII and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He retired from the FAA in 1974, and was a member of the Mason Lodge. Freas was an active member in Veterans of Foreign Wars, Grants/Milan Elks Lodge and American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Freas of Milan; step-sons, Lyn Small of Salano Beach, Calif., Byron Rohrer of Phoenix, Brian Rohrer, Brice Rohrer both of Gallup; step-daughter, Connie Valdez of Gallup; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Freas was preceded in death by his father, Walter John Hagedorn; mother, Pauline Ruth Stump Hagedorn; and Fred Freas.

The family will receive relatives and friends following services at the Central Baptist Church.
