Juana Vallo
LAGUNA Services for Juana W. Vallo, 89, were at 10 a.m., March
28, at St. Annes Catholic Church in Acomita. Burial followed at Acomita
Cemetery in Acomita. A rosary was recited 7 p.m. Sunday, March 27 and
a visitation was held one hour before the rosary.
Vallo died March 27 in Laguna. She was born January 19, 1916 in Acomita.
She was a resident of Acomita and a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church.
She was an Acoma potter and was actively involved with the Acoma Senior
Citizens.
Survivors include her sons, Floyd Vallo of Rio Rancho, Fred Vallo, of
Acomita, Philip Vallo of Valljo, Calif., and Emerson R. Vallo, of Acomita,
10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death of her sister, Lilly Vallo and her brother,
Harry Philipi.
Raymond 'Cotton' Weathers
GRANTS Services for Raymond "Cotton" Lee Weathers,
70, will be held on Wednesday, March 30 at the Bible Baptist Church,
530 Jefferson Ave., Grants, NM. The Rev. Archie Barnes will officiate.
Burial will follow at the Pie Town Community Cemetery in Pie Town.
Weathers died March 25 in Grants. He was born Feb. 25, 1935 in Quemado,
N.M. He worked in the family sawmill in the Grants area and worked in
the Anaconda Mines in Bluewater. He was also a driller and worked on
the drilling rigs. In later years, he worked with his father at the
wrecking yard.
Survivors include his brother Harley Joe Weathers of Bluewater and numerous
nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Orley and Ellen Weathers; sister,
Dorothy Weathers; brothers Fred Ireland Weathers and Oral Weathers Jr.
Pallbearers will be Jack Young, Corky Young, Buddy Jaggers, Rafael Aguilera,
Tomas Bailey and Rex Robinson.
Compassion Mortuary of Grants is in charge of arrangements.
Julia Nelson
Haystack, N.M. Services for Julia L. Nelson, 60, of Haystack
will be announced at a later date.
Nelson died March 27 in Gallup. She was born July 17, 1944 in Bluewater
Village into the Sagebrush People and for the Mescalero Apache People.
Compassion Mortuary of Grants is in charge of arrangements.
