GALLUP Graveside services for Wheeler L.
Anderson, 85, of Gallup, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, at Sunset
Memorial Park in Gallup with Jimmy Meadows doing a song and a closing
prayer. Rob Kocis will give the eulogy.
Anderson was born July 23, 1919, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He died Friday
in Gallup.
Wheeler served in the Navy from 1942 to 1944. He was a school teacher
who enjoyed fishing, gardening, bird-watching and playing cards with
his wife, Lois. He worked for the railroad for 42 years.
Survivors include his wife, Lois V. Anderson, Gallup; and sister, Betty
Barnes, Sunset West, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dempse Anderson; mother, Sula
Anderson; sons, James Lee and William Royce Anderson; brothers, Clyde
Anderson and John Dee Anderson; and sister, Jasie Fisher.
Pallbearers will be Harold Barnes, William Barnes, Fred Jonas, Jimmy
Meadows, Don Scarbrough and Darrel Vigil.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

ROCK SPRINGS Funeral services for Joe Mitchell
Sr., 78, were 10 a.m. today at Cope Memorial Chapel. Brother Bowling,
pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery. Visitation
was held after services.
Mitchell died March 16 in Gallup. He was born May 14, 1926, in Littlewater,
N.M., into the Towering House Clan for the Mascalero Apache Clan.
Mitchell retired from the railroad after 32 years. He was a silversmith
and carved fetishes. He enjoyed traveling and watching TV.
Survivors include his wife, Florita Rose Mitchell; sons, Larry and Joe
Mitchell Jr.; daughters Alice Claw, Lorena Lee and Rosita Benally; brother,
Jones Mitchell; sister Zonnie Herbert; 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Mitchell was preceded in death by his father, Antonio Mitchell; and
mother, Mary Mitchell.
Pallbearers were Harry John, Tony Enrico, Elroy Lee, Philip Begay, Joe
Mitchell Jr. and Harlen Claw.
The family received visitors after the service at Rock Springs Chapter
House.
Cope Memorial was in charge of arrangements.

GALLUP Services are pending for Gary Don
Williams, 57, of Gallup. Williams died Friday in Gallup. He was born
Jan. 17, 1948, in Amherst, Texas.
