Guitarist to perform

GALLUP Classical guitarist Jeremy Mayne will be appearing
in concert at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, at the El Morro Theater in
downtown Gallup.
Mayne is an award-winning classical guitarist, an innovative composer
and arranger, and the 2004 New Mexico Fingerpicking and Flatpicking Champion.
He has been a featured soloist with the University of New Mexico Orchestra
and UNM String Quartet and has performed throughout the United States,
Mexico, and Canada.
His concert programs feature a diverse repertoire, which includes virtuoso
classical guitar works, innovative original works for steel-string guitar,
and arrangements of Celtic and bluegrass tunes.
Mayne has released three solo guitar recordings:"Portrait of the
Guitar, vol. 1"(1995), "Cancion del Emperador"(2000), and"Rhythmscapes"(2002).
In addition, he performed on "Villanesca"(2001), a Christmas
album he recorded with the New Mexico Guitar Duo.
Mayne has degrees in classical guitar performance from the University
of New Mexico and Indiana University. He is on the guitar faculty of the
University of New Mexico and the performing arts faculty at Albuquerque
Academy and the Menaul School.
Tickets for Mayne's concert will be available at the door. Tickets are
$10 for adults; discounts will be given for senior citizens and students.
