GALLUP A 21-year-old Gallup man was arrested on Sunday
for cutting the throat of his girlfriend's brother with a steak knife
during a domestic dispute.
Gallup police arrived at 2500 East Aztec to the faint cries of a woman
inside the residence. Sgt. Matt Wright entered the home and found Ace
Garcia, 20-year-old Wilbert Livingston Jr. and 24-year-old Crystal Begay
inside the bedroom.
Garcia reportedly shouted obscenities at the officer until he was escorted
outside of the residence and into the back of the department's panel van.
Livingston said he confronted Garcia after he allegedly hit his sister,
Crystal Begay, repeatedly in the face and accused her of cheating.
According to a police report, Garcia threatened Garcia's life and slashed
him twice along his neck with a steak knife. The cuts were described as
minor during an examination by officers at the scene.
Garcia was booked into the Gallup-McKinley Adult Detention Center on multiple
charges of aggravated battery against a household member after officers
consulted with assistant district attorney Terence Gurley concerning the
incident.
In other news, a 47-year-old Navajo, N.M., man was arrested on Friday
after he allegedly threatened a T&R tax service customer with a knife.
Peter Sage, 54, was reportedly watching television inside the store when
he overheard Dale Mailman say he wanted to "kill an Indian tonight."
According to a police report, as Sage questioned Mailman's plan, Mailman
pulled out a 5 to 6 inch knife and pointed it toward him.
However, the service's security intervened before anyone was injured.
Mailman was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and was booked into
the Gallup-McKinley Adult Detention Center.
