Elsie Willeto

COYOTE CANYON — Services for Elsie Sam Willeto, 83, will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27 at Rollie Mortuary Palm Chapel. Edward Shirley will officiate. Burial will be on family land in Peach Springs.

Willeto died Jan. 23 in Gallup. She was born July 14, 1921 in Peach Springs into the Black Streak of the Forest People Clan for the Mud People Clan.

Survivors include her daughters, Julia Perry of Brimhall, Berny Willeto of Albuquerque; sisters, Janice Harrison of Brimhall, Mary Jim Sam of Coyote Canyon, Betty Upshaw of Denver; brother, Ray Sam of Albuquerque; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Willeto was preceded in death by her father, Hosteen Sam; mother, El Ke Pah Sam; brothers, Sam Gibson, Nelson Sam, Tony Sam and sister, Mary W. Johnson.

Pallbearers will be Lew Harrison, Raynell Harrison, John Perry, Jonathan Perry, Roland Sam and Ryan Sam.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
