Emily Ann Fuhs
CARMEL, Calif. Funeral services for Emily Ann Fuhs, 76, will
be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 15 at the East Baptist Church. Rev. Gene
Turk will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Fuhs died Jan. 11 in Carmel, Calif. She was born August 8, 1928 in Appalachia,
Va.
Fuhs graduated as Valedictorian of Gallup High in 1946. She earned a
Bachelor of Education from UNM in 1950 and was a member of Alpha Delta
Pi Sorority. She went on to complete an MBA from UNM in 1951. She was
VP of the local chapter of Mortar Board and VP of Finance for National
Mortal Board. She then moved to Pasadena, Calif. where she taught school
at Temple City for nine years. Fuhs served as a Girl Scout and Brownie
Leader. She also served with the Monterey Lyceum. She enjoyed genealogy,
stamp collecting, swimming and traveling in the US, Canada, Japan, and
Europe.
Survivors include her husband, Allen Fuhs of Carmel, Calif.; mother,
Elma Boardman of Calif.; daughter, Susan Fuhs of Los Angeles, Calif.;
and Jack Fuhs of Gallup.
Fuhs was preceded in death by her father, Willard Large and a brother,
John Large.
Pallbearers will be Derrick Fortney, Dennis Fuhs, Johnny Fuhs, Kerry
Fuhs, Loren Fuhs and Mickey Fuhs.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the
Kernes Pool, 15 Portola Avenue, Monterey, Calif., 93940
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Clarence Kinsel
TWIN LAKES Funeral services for Clarence Kinsel, 83, will be
at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 15 at Cope Memorial Chapel, Gallup. Burial
will be in Gallup City Cemetery.
A visitation will be at Wallace and Helen Long's residence, Twin Lakes.
Kinsel died Jan. 11 in Gallup. He was born Dec. 19, 1924 in Twin Lakes
into the Red Running into Water People Clan for the Edge of the Water
People Clan.
Kinsel worked for the Santa Fe Railroad and was also a brick layer and
cement finisher. He was a member of Twin Lakes Community. His hobbies
included herding sheep, reading magazines, watching his grandchildren
in rodeos, and he was also a natural herbalist.
Survivors include his sister, Helen B. Long of Twin Lakes and five great-great
grandchildren.
Kinsel was preceded in death by his father, Jack Brown; mother, Hadesbah
Brown; brother, Nelson Brown; wife, Helen S. Kinsel.
Pallbearers will be Nelson Long Sr., Travis Long, Alvin Willie, Darrell
Willie, Lorenzo Benally and Dewayne Long.
The family will meet at Twin Lakes Chapter House at 3 p.m.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

GALLUP Funeral services for Benjamin "Benny" Clyde
Shirley, 22, will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan, 15 at First Baptist
Church, Gallup. Pastor Bill Overton will officiate. Burial will be in
Sunset Memorial Park.
Shirley died Jan. 8 in Iyanbito, N.M. He was born Feb. 12, 1982 in Gallup
into the Red Streak Running into theWater People Clan for the Water
Edge People Clan.
Shirley attended UNM, was a proprietor of Indian Fine Arts, and was
a cultural tour guide and a legislative assistant at the State Capitol
in Santa Fe.
Survivors include his father, Albert Shirley of Iyanbito; mother, Deborah
Yellowhorse-Brown of Gallup; brothers, Derrick Paul Shirley of Albuquerque
and Anthony Brian Shirley of Gallup; maternal grandmother, Betty Frances
Tilden of Churchrock.
Shirley was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Juan "
The Chief" Yellowhorse; Rena Collins and Eunice Guy.
Pallbearers will be Derrick P. Shirley, Anthony B. Shirley, Eric Lee,
Mark Tilden, Michael Yellowhorse, Frank Diaz, and Darrell C. Joe.
The family will receive relatives and friends immediately following
the services at Sacred Heart Cathedral Family Center, Gallup.
Compassion Mortuary of Grants is in charge of arrangements.
Teddy David Bustos
GRANTS Private family services for Teddy David Bustos, 59, have
already been held.
Bustos died Jan. 8 in rural Cibola County. He was born July 17, 1945
in Ely, Nev.
Bustos was a retired miner.
Survivors include his father, Si Bustos of Grants; sisters, Judy Rosenlund
of Austin, Nev. and Sonia Winn of Nev.
Bustos was preceded in death by his mother, Ann Dizzia Bustos; sister,
Adrienne Flangas.
Compassion Mortuary of Grants was in charge of arrangements.
Correction
The last name in the obituary for Gilbert Quam in Wednesday's edition
was inadvertently misspelled.
