Grants home is burglarized
Police seek information

GRANTS — A burglar who got into Alex Fernandez's home took the entire safe and its contents.

Cibola County Sheriff's deputies are looking for information on the case.

Sometime between Dec. 27 and Jan. 6, someone apparently got into Fernandez's home, 8 Fort Wingate Rd., San Rafael, and took $20 in pre-1964 silver coins, one $100 bill, two $2 bills, several car titles, Fernandez's Grants High School graduation diploma and the 24-inch-x-24-inch safe in which it was kept. The safe is a Brinks Safe and is colored beige.

As a favor to McKinley County Sheriff's Department, the Cibola County Sheriff's Department is asking if any Cibola County resident may have information about two burglaries which took place in Thoreau, one on Dec. 17 and the other between Dec. 16 and Dec. 24 at another home.

Items missing from a burglary at 57 Navarre St. include:

  • A Winchester Model 94 lever action rifle in .30/30 caliber, serial number 435565.
  • A Winchester rifle in caliber .270 Winchester, serial number 882,620. The rifle would be either a Model 70 or an older Model 54. Both are bolt action rifles.
  • A Remington rifle in a high-power caliber.
  • A Savage Model 99 rifle in .303 Savage caliber.
  • An RCA 20-inch screen television set.

Items missing from a burglary at 25 Rose St. include:

  • A Savage 12 gage Model 720 Military Trench Shotgun.
  • A Winchester Model 94 lever-action rifle in .30/30 caliber.
  • A Mossberg .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle.
  • A Colt black powder pistol in .36 caliber.
