Deaths
Yazzie Wilson
CROWNPOINT Funeral services for Yazzie Wilson, 60, will be at
10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 13 at Cope Memorial Chapel. Herbert Francisco
will officiate. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery.
Wilson died Jan. 7 in Crownpoint. He was born March 27, 1944 in Pinehaven,
N.M. into the Towering House People Clan for the Red Running into the
Water People Clan.
Wilson was an employee of Union Pacific Railroad for 24 years and Burlington
Northern Santa Fe for eight years. He enjoyed outdoor activities, traveling,
watching western movies, do-it-yourself activities and spending time
with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Priscilla H. Wilson of Crownpoint; daughter,
Shirlynn Y. Wilson of Crownpoint; brother, Ted Spencer of Breadsprings,
N.M.; sisters, Lois Chee of Red Rock, N.M., Rosie Pine of Grants.
Wilson was preceded in death by his mother, Mary C. Spencer and his
grandmother, Bah Wilson.
Pallbearers will be family members.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Whitewater Mission,
Vanderwagen, N.M.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Gilbert Bossie Quam
ZUNI A traditional wake for Gilbert Bossie Quam, 92, will be
thisevening at 9 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 12 at the Quam's residence. Burial
will be Thursday, Jan. 13 at the Zuni Old Mission.
Quam died Jan. 11 in Zuni. He was born August 18, 1912 in Zuni.
Quam served in the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He completed
two tours in Europe in which he received military metals for his service.
He worked for the National Park Service in Arizona and retired with
the Zuni Bureau of Indian Affairs as a heavy equipment operator. Survivors
include his wife, Rosalie W. Quam of Zuni; son, Quinton Quan of Zuni;
daughters, Verbena Sanchez, Brenda Schell, Linda Quam, Bernice Quam,
Rebecca Quam, and Nona Quam all of Zuni; brother, Jones Quam of Zuni;
19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Quam was preceded in death by parents, Bossie Quam and Lupita Quam;
brothers, Hiram Quam, Ralph Quam and Sidney Quam.
