Truett Gurley

GALLUP — Funeral services for Truett Gurley, 55, will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 12 at Rollie Mortuary Palm Chapel. Pastor Jay McCollum will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Visitation will be today, Tuesday, Jan. 11 between 12-6 p.m.

Gurley died Jan. 5 in Gallup. She was born June 20, 1948 in Artesia, N.M.

Gurley loved to collect "Old World" Santa Clauses, loved music and traveling, played the guitar, and enjoyed spending time with daughter, grand-daughter and her dog.

Survivors include her husband, Pat Gurley; mother, Brucie Truett of Artesia, N.M.; daughter, Cassidy Compton of Durango, Colo.; step-son, Steven Gurley of Gallup; step-daughters, Erin Ingalls of Queencreek, Ariz., Lauryn Kellerman of Charlotte, N.C., Shannan O' Donnell of Phoenix, Ariz.; brother, Mike Truett of Lovington, N.M.; sister, Lisa Vargo of Grand Junction, Colo. and one grand-daughter.

Gurley was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Truett.

Pallbearers will be Mitch Allen, Dan Frady, Steven Gurley, Dick Kauzlaric, Joe Milosevich and Mike Truett.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Harold Benallie

MARIANO LAKE — Funeral services for Harold Benallie, 38, will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 12 at Mariano Lake Community Church. Pastor Jones Dehiya will officiate. Burial will be in Thoreau Community Cemetery.

Benallie died Jan. 8 in Mariano Lake. He was born Sept. 15, 1966 in Reboboth, N.M. into the Red Running Into the Water People Clan for the Under His Cover People Clan.

Benallie attended Thoreau High School, CIT, and was a construction worker, plumber, etc. in Show Low. He enjoyed work on wood sculptures such as kachinas, cabinetry, paintings and airplane modeling.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Dakai-Benallie of Show Low, Ariz.; daughters, Leona Billie, Angel Benallie both of Show Low, Ariz.; mother, Julia Largo of Mariano Lake, N.M.; brother, Ronald Largo of Continental Divide, N.M.; sisters, Juliana George of Gallup and Jennifer Little Hoop of Alliance, Neb.

Benallie was preceded in death by her father, Jones Benallie; grandparents, Wilson and Christine Largo; brothers, Donald George and Arnold George.

Pallbearers will be Alexander Pino, Malcolm Dakai, and Lonnie Little-Hoop.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Mariano Lake Community Church.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangments.


Albert L. Williams

FORT WINGATE — Funeral services for Albert L. Williams, 89, were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at Mary Mother of Mankind, St. Michael's, Ariz. Fr. Gilbert Schneider, OFM, officiated. Burial was on Saturday, Jan. 8 in a family plot in Steamboat, Ariz.

Williams died Jan. 4 in Gallup. He was born Jan. 22, 1916 in Steamboat, Ariz. into the Big Water People Clan for the Red Running into the Water People Clan.

Williams graduated from Fort Wingate school in 1930. He was a WWII Veteran and served with the 450th Bombardment Squadron, 322nd Bombardment Group. He worked for the Bureau of Indian affairs for 40 years and was a member of the original planners of the establishment of AIRCA. His hobbies included raising horses, roping cattle, and watching football games.

Survivors include his wife, Francine C. Williams of Fort Wingate; son, Doug L. Williams of Gallup; sisters, Julia Willie and Edith Willie both of Steamboat, Ariz.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Williams was preceded in death by his sons, Kim L. Williams and Scott L. Williams; parents, Lewis and Maggie Williams; brothers, Paul Williams, Kenneth Williams, and Alfred Williams.

The family received relatives and friends at the Julia Willie's residence.

Cope Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangments.


James A. Paslay

GRANTS — Graveside services for James A. Paslay, 86, were at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 8 at Memorial Park. Rev. Taube Jenkins officiated.

Visitation was held at 9 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 8 at Grants Mortuary Chapel.

Paslay died Jan. 5 in Grants. He was born August 18, 1918 in Hubbard, Hill Country, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Wynell L. Paslay of Grants; daughters, Pat Paslay-Padgett of Grants, Nancy K. Paslay-Shaw of Winnemucca, Nev; four grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Paslay was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bulah Paslay; brother, William Paslay.

Pallbearers were family and friends.


Vedna Agnes Pino

ACOMITA — Funeral mass for Vedna Agnes Pino, 86 , was at 9 a.m., today, Tuesday, Jan. 11 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Acomita. Father Wayne Gibbeaut, OFM offficiated. Burial was in Acomita Cemetery.

A rosary was recited at the family home at 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 10.

Pino died Jan. 9. She was born April 15, 1918 in Albuquerque.

Pino moved to California at the age of 5, then in 1987 she moved back to the family home. She was a member of St. Anthony Mary Claret Alter Society, and was a devout member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Acomita. She owned and operated Vedna Pino Oil Paving and Trucking Company in Fresno, Calif. She also worked at McKinley Paper Company.

Pino was preceded in death by her parents, San Juan and Louise Pino; brother, Emery Joseph Pino; sister, Erma Pino.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.


Richard "Dickey" Fisher

TUCUMCARI, N.M. — Traditional wake for Richard "Dickey" Fisher, 66, will be at 5 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 15 at El Rancho Hotel in Gallup. Cremated remains will be placed with his mother and grandmother at Hillcrest Cemetery in Gallup.

Fisher died Jan. 1 in Amarillo, Texas. He was born Jan. 7, 1938 in Gallup.

Fisher attended school in Gallup and was a retired truck driver.

Survivors include his sons, Michal Fisher and Lance Fisher both of Albuquerque, Flynt Fisher of Rio Rancho; sisters, Mildred Mildred Fiscus of Meyersdale, Penn.

Fisher was preceded in death by his mother, Margret Fisher.CorrectionIn the obituary of Jerry Franklin in Monday's edition surviving brother, Wayne Franklin of Naschitti, N.M. was inadvertently omitted. In the obituary of Antonio Diaz in Monday's edition surviving son, Ruben Diaz was inadvertently omitted by the family.
