Applebee's fails liquor sting

Staff Report

GALLUP — The Gallup Police Department conducted an alcohol enforcement sting on Wednesday night, and Applebee's was the only restaurant that was found to violate liquor laws.

Server 46-year-old Lawrence Guillen, of Gallup, was arrested on a felony charge of selling alcohol to a minor, a 20-year-old undercover officer.

Officers visited 11 local establishments that sell or serve liquor to determine whether employees complied with New Mexico liquor laws, Capt John Allen said, and nearly all the vendors who were tested complied.

Allen said the department will continue to conduct unannounced alcohol enforcement.
